What school is this? Our APS has tons on masking.

PP here (not the quoted one). I think it varies widely by level, more older kids are still masking b/c of peer pressure whereas the young ones care less about that. Which is probably good b/c the youngest need the most help learning social cues, etc.

Agreed. My young elementary kid is unmasked and thrilled and reports her class is about 50/50. My middle school kid feels pressure to wear the mask and I'm letting her do whatever she wants.

I agree it's a relief and gives me hope.

I'm so happy to see that retail and grocery staff don't have to mask anymore (and it's great that they can continue if they wish). I was in my local Giant and just a few employees were masked. The numbers of shoppers masked dropping as well.

I asked my DD about her high school (that has been mask-optional for two weeks). She said it went from about 50-50 initially, to about 25% masked now. I left it up to her, and she unmasked the first day. When I checked in with her this morning to see what she thought two weeks later, she said it's been "wonderful". And she had been a "it's not a big deal" kid previously.

When will doctors offices stop requiring masks? I’m at the eye doctor and I have to wear a mask. What’s the difference between this and a packed grocery store with no mask?

Meh. I still wear my (N95) mask inside stores, etc. I don't give a rat's a$$ what anyone else thinks. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Omicron BA.2 subvariant is now spreading and gaining ground in the US and I prefer to not be infected by it.

Proximity? I do not want any random unmasked person directly in my face ever again, and I’ll extend the same courtesy as much as possible.

You're going to have a hard time with this.

Same here. Case counts are no longer a good indicator, since they don't include at-home tests. The death count isn't dropping all that fast. A new study came out showing brain damage from even mild COVID, and they don't know yet if it's permanent. WH just cut Paxlovid order by 8 or 9 million doses. Not really in a hurry to get this thing just yet. Masking indoors doesn't bother me, though, and I enjoy not getting other people's germs, whether COVID or not, so there's no downside for me.

But the truth is that I could not give less of a sht what percentage where a mask or don’t as long as I don’t have to.

Most of the people still masking are either neurotic or virtue signaling, but not all of them and I don’t care enough to distinguish one from the other as long as my own beautiful smile is uncovered.

Today at the Vienna Whole Foods I saw a lady with the big mask and the plastic face shield. She is either completely neurotic or super virtue signaling because she can do pick up or delivery if she is truly sick. There is no need for that crazy.

What happens when you do check out at the grocery store? Eat at a restaurant? Get a haircut? It’s all the same thing. My vet is requiring a mask. Why???

We are still wearing KN95 respirators, which are actually protective. It’s not about virtue, it’s about the pandemic isn’t over. Though at least hospitals have space for most of us, but I’m assuming your grin is too wide.

One say after the article about even mild cases of covid making your brain up to 2% smaller, so yeah, this anti-mask enthusiasm just about fits. :p

This was my MIL a few weeks ago in Florida. Her husband had terminal cancer and was undergoing immunization treatments along with being on a ton of other medication. She was also very particular about the food she purchased for him so didn't want to do online ordering. I guess that counts as crazy? Especially since he died anyway? Maybe I'm weird but I would've looked at the Whole Foods woman and hoped her or her loved ones were okay instead of judging her as crazy/neurotic/virtue signaling. Wow.
