Rot in his soiled depends.

You're a total ass for being so ageist. I hope you are lucky enough to live to 79.

This is what I fear most people don't realize - with Putin, this doesn't end at Ukraine's borders

Yep, if I'm Finland, I'm trying real fast to get my NATO membership card. Putin seems determined to re-create the Russian Empire.

It's been awhile, but I read a book where - as I recall -- the argument was made that Finland managed to weather the Cold War in significant part because it was not part of NATO.

More and less than he is.

Trump was impeached for withholding $400 million in Congressionally mandated military aid from Ukraine, you twit.

Ukraine got the military aid in Sep 2019 - so what is your point?

Putin is betting that the poisonous political polarization unleased by Trump is going to undermine the American-led response. If that happens then our world order will destabilize. These next couple of weeks are exceedingly pivotal.

There are enough adults left in the GOP who get this, especially in the Senate. They need to stand up and shut down the moronic Trump acolytes in the House.

Amen. I'd love it if they could just for a while rally around the flag and democracy. We're witnessing history folks. This is going to go down like 9/11, COVID and the great recession but probably bigger than all three if Putin continues down this path. I want to be aligned with my fellow Americans against a common enemy -- hell, that might be the only thing that brings people together (it did during the Cold War).

Normal people want peace and prosperity, not wars and economic disasters "explained" by them to make us feel better. And there was a reason we never had a full blown war with Russia even in territories far removed, not to mention close to their borders. Russia is no Iraq.

They got it in spite of Trump, not because of him.

That Trump is part of the pro-Russia, anti-Ukraine problem. Duh.

They get visas to send their kids to fancy schools western Europe and the US. They spend their vacations skiing in the Alps and dining in Paris and London. All of that needs to be cut off. Freeze all those assets. No visas. Send their kids home. See how they like Russia. Maybe they can volunteer for the army.

Who are some of these individuals? Names? Have they been making any comments

Trump increased the military aid. If he was pro-Russian wouldn’t he have cut it.
He withheld to try and get dirt on Biden.

Sanctions on Russian elites and family members. The list: Sergei Ivanov (and his son, Sergei), Andrey Patrushev (and his son Nikolai), Igor Sechin (and his son Ivan), Andrey Puchkov, Yuriy Solviev (and two real estate companies he owns), Galina Ulyutina, and Alexander Vedyakhin.
Sanctions on 24 Belarusian people and companies. This includes "two significant Belarusian state-owned banks, nine defense firms, and seven regime-connected official and elites," according to the White House.

Listen to the Minister of Foreign Affairs from Ukraine.

While Russia should be banned from SWIFT they'll just use another currency or even gold to do their banking. The sanctions are weak including the SWIFT sanction. Russia's economy is basically based on oil which we aren't going to touch so not much harm will be done to them financially. After releasing the weak sanctions the stock market went from bright red to green and the price of a barrel of oil went down when it was clear Russian oil wasn't going to be messed with.

Why use SWIFT when they can use Ripple/XRP or one of dozens of crypto currencies.
