+100 Student loan forgiveness is a gift to people who would otherwise have voted Democratic anyways. |
Ikr? Who really cares about abortion anyway? |
| I am eligible for up to 20k, and I am just now finishing an associate's degree this semester. I had no idea what I was doing, so I stopped because I was scared of the debt. I have learning disabilities and didn't know how to advocate for myself. I left college more than 13 years ago, but surprisingly, I had 20k in debt even though it was so long ago. People with a 4-year degree would have 40k. I didn't have parents pushing me one way or the other, but all my friends in high school went on to college. My parents didn't sit me down and say college wasn't right for me since I would need a lot of remedial coursework. I'm happy I finally pursued my AA degree. I am a teaching assistant |
I am a teaching assistant at a special needs school now, and I am happy. My job doesn't pay anything to brag about but I found a way to use my talents. We need more direction during the high school years. I thought about trade school but that also requires skill as well. I struggle with math. It would be very, very hard for me to fulfill the math for a bachelor's degree. I know because I have been trying for years. It's unfortunate, but such is life. My spouse makes a high income so we are okay. |
Also, I never lived on the campus or bought food from the cafeteria with a meal card, so I saved a lot of money. People who lived on campus for at least one year would have 50k. That was at a state college in Indiana. 10 k would wipe out half of my loan, and the other 10k would eliminate it. I received a pell grant. We have been paying on it since dh finished his Ph.D., and it's now at 13k. I know Biden mentioned the 10 k would help folks who never finished, and that's the case for me. I have been in college for a year now, paying as I go, so my AA degree will end up being around 25k. That's a lot of money, considering an AA doesn't open up doors. With my current job, I was required to have at least 48 college credits but not a degree. I make $17.5 per hour. |
Thanks for sharing. 10k is nothing. You can't even go to community college for that. |
And the Republicans are looking awesome with the guns and forced birthing. |
| No one is voting Republican because of the student loan forgiveness. That’s just a more acceptable justification than admitting they support bigotry and fascism. |
Pretty funny comment considering Biden has demonstrated more fascist tendencies than any other president. Including with this EO - this is an act that should be passed by Congress, not unilaterally decided by an incompetent president. |
NVCC is $185 per credit and requires 60 credits for an associates degree…that’s about $11k. So, yes, $10k is actually something and it’s unclear why it’s costing the PP $25k. |
I'm not aware of a single Republican who votes for Republicans to support bigotry and fascism. You must live in a strange place! MSNBC studios? |
I only did cc for a few semesters before transferring to a state college. Cc isn't encouraged by anyone, really, especially not in this area. And as I pointed out earlier isn't doesn't take you far. You need to do something very technical, like a trade. No one is excited about going to a college that accepts everyone. |
The PPP is a good example of how much the government is bullshit, stupid, and run by a bunch of grifters. And another reason we should keep them out of as much of our lives as possible. |
Look at your Republican House members. They are majority bigots and fascists and delusional idiots, proven from their own mouths and votes. Look at your governors. Most of them run on shutting up Blacks and LGBT and immigrants and keeping them in their place with a fascist police state. There’s also the cronyism and corruption. |
