No lol what????

Wootton + Horizon Hill - Dufief - Travilah.

Send Fields Road, Rosemont, Dufief, Travilah, and everyone to where it geographically makes most sense.

Makes most geographic sense to send Fields Rd to Crown. Bless them they are wonderful people.

Yes! I would be furious if I can see Crown HS from my house but unable to attend.

I would be furious if I can see Wootton HS from my house but unable to attend and have to be bussed to crown.

But Wootton HS will be torn down and won't exist, so that problem would be solved...

That is not even a proposal.

In regards to the post where they said Wootton should move to Crown + Fields + Rosemont - Fallsmead - Cold Spring, where would you send Fallsmead and Cold Spring in that scenario given that Churchill/RM are already at capacity?

Do any of the options on the table address half of King Farm going to Gaithersburg and the other half going to RM? I never thought it made sense to split that neighborhood.

Well I think the answer has 2 parts. First of all part of Fallsmead’s catchment is in Rio so that part of it would need to be redistricted to Crown for obvious geographical reasons. fallsmead and Cold Spring are both smaller schools (especially when you take out part of the catchment for Fallsmead.) Then Fallsgrove should also be redistricted to Crown for Geographical purposes which should at least free up the space for one of the schools to go. But not both. So it still leaves a problem because Churchill doesn’t really have a part of the catchment that doesn’t make sense.

No. And I can’t imagine that they will change it anytime soon but if they did I think it would be more likely they all would move to GHS than the other way around since RM already has more kids/closer to capacity.

So why not just swap Horizon Hill for some of the Wootton neighborhoods closer to Crown? That would fill up Crown a bit more, ease overcrowding at RM, and keep Wootton close to current enrollment levels?

That doesn’t make sense-HH isn’t anywhere closer to crown than The other neighborhoods mentioned are so again-doesn’t make geographical sense for Hh to go to Crown?

A few years ago, I think MCPS would have fought that type of case but given the current political climate, I'm guessing they don't want to take that on.

A "discrimination" case doesn't pass the laugh test. It wouldn't make it to a second hearing.

More likely, they'd say it is improperly closing a school. Though, if MCPS says they're just replacing the building, then school impact taxes may need to be refunded. Those wouldn't go to Crown homeowners- it would go back to the developer.

So careful what you wish for here.

They’re fantasizing of taking Asian families from Wootton to prop up their schools and juice property values, apparently assuming those families are passive, interchangeable, and will obediently stay wherever they’re redirected. Wake up! Asians will only move to better school districts than staying at your schools.

. No, move HH from RM to Wootton (where HH used to be). The Wootton neighborhoods next to Crown can go there.

Ok you are talking about if the actual Wootton building stays intact as is? I was responding if Wootton were to cease. But yeah I mean-I guess but at this point like others have stated-HH doesn’t want to go back to Wootton. And their situation is unique since they were forced out and are now comfortable and happy with their new situation. Really wouldn’t be fair to them unless they truly wanted to return.

For the last time, HH doesn't want to go to Wootton. Most of the parents in HH with kids in MCPS prefer to stay at RM.

Fallsgrove should go to Crown, though.

O I’m sorry I didn’t realize this boundary study was contingent on what parents of HH want. Here I was thinking it should be done based on what makes logical sense. Silly me.

Yup! HH is walkable to Wootton!

And parents in HH don't want to be in the Wootton cluster.

Only the old timers who have no kids in the school system and feel betrayed want to go back to Wootton.
