In 2017, Crumbley, from Oxford, spoke to a local newspaper about a school project he was working on with four of his classmates. The group worked with a nonprofit in town called Blessings in a Backpack, which fills backpacks with food and distributes them to “at risk” kids.

This is not an excuse for killing. Apparently, the parents were at the school in the morning, so they knew.

Of course there's no excuse. But nobody will even discuss the bullying factor. Bullying is probably too soft of a word; tormenting and abusing the kid all day every day is probably more accurate.

And they claim it is a tight-knit community. Hogwash. It's one of the largest high schools in Michigan with a very distinct and stark haves vs have nots hierarchy.

Extreme bullying victim here. What you claim is, in your own words, hogwash.

In high school is was called all manner of vulgar names, ostracized, hit, shoved, and told to commit suicide by a group of teenagers in a “tight knit” community in Colorado. To say my experience was traumatizing is an understatement.

And yet, never once did it occur to me to pick up a gun and murder my tormentors. This is in NO SMALL PART because my parents didn’t keep guns laying around the house. Guns were never part of my family’s world view, so the opportunity simply wasn’t there.

There are millions of kids that are the victims of bullying. It’s sad and horrifying. There are millions of kids with mental health conditions. I meet both those criteria. And I am here to tell you that I profess non-violence, peer collaboration, and healing at every turn. So truly, PP, you are completely misguided. Bullying doesn’t make children murderers. Having open access to guns and parents who teach that guns are a fine way to solve your problems absolutely does.

The same parents who bully the schools with cries of "bullying!!!" are trying to scare schools into doing what those parents want, terrorizing the schools into thinking they will be the next to be shot up.

Disgusting.

You expect a kid that is not properly patented, neglected and then bullied at school is going to know to and how to get help?
You people are ridiculous!!!

So you call people stupid and dumb twice to rail against bullying?

Oh, the irony!

It has nothing to do with bullying. Teach your kid not to snap, assault or kill people. Parent. Problem solved.

Is this sarcasm? Please tel me it is. If not, you are either really naive, really stupid, really simple minded, or a combination of all three.

How is the name calling working out for you? Funny, for someone who accuses people of "bullying!!", you sure bully a lot.

Extreme bullying victim PP here. I’m unclear how this is naive. As I said my my post a few minutes ago, it was my parents that literally saved me. I’d come home from school after having shoes and sports equipment thrown at me in the locker room. In tears, inconsolable, and ready to take my own life. I was classically at risk in every way. My parents gave me the tools to cope. They got me the professional resources I desperately needed. If I had had Jennifer Crumbley as a mother, it could have very easily gone the other way.

So yes, being a deeply concerned and caring parent saves lives.

I was a DP. Not the same poster talking about bullying. And fyi, calling someone an idiot IN ONE POST is not bullying. The word has lost all meaning at this point.

It’s naive because you can teach kids to not to bully all day long, and twice on Sundays, and guess what? They still may bully. It’s just not that simple.

I CANNOT believe that counselor didn’t take one look at that drawing and the internet search and go immediately to the principal/police. JFC - the kids practically sky wrote what he was about to do.

Ah yes, a psychology degree is the magical factor that was missing here after at least a dozen people were aware of this kid's problems and failed to stop him.

Exactly. More six-figure freeloaders with degree mill credentials were needed at the district and the county level. Not enough worthless bureaucracy and layers of fiefdoms in Michigan's wealthiest county.

Wow. That's what wealth look like in Michigan???

I think the most important point is the parents taking any opportunity to call it "bullying!!!!", but IRL, it is not bullying.

Some of the parents who are fond of the "bullying!!" rhetoric are most definitely bullies themselves. The administrators are well aware of this tactic of the problematic parents to deflect.

That, and "bullying" is no reason to shoot up a school.

The explanation is EASY ACCESS TO GUNS.

You’re welcome.

What is behind all of the school shootings?

Guns
Guns
More guns

And 2A POSs who push their vile gun culture - and guns - on the rest of us.

They are whining about bullying because they know they are to blame.

When seconds count, the police are just minutes away:

https://www.foxnews.com/us/portland-police-tell-residents-911-response-times-may-be-delayed-due-to-staffing-shortage-critical-incidents

I will protect myself from rapists and home invasion robberies the way I choose. If you want to rely on 911, fine.

But don’t tell me to be defenseless and helpless against these men - these violent repeat offender men - who the prosecutors refuse to keep in jail.

Oakland County includes all the wealthy Detroit suburbs like Farmington Hills etc. Oxford is far from those but still in the same county. Similar to Damascus in Montgomery County.

Store your weapon in a manner that your teenager can’t access it and that’s fine. Just like I do with mine.
