So you literally have no response. Next time just say that. Thanks. |
Why would they give $5.7 billions for a temporary extension of DACA, when DACA is already tied up in the courts so dreamers aren't being deported for now anyway? Trump isn't offering amnesty or a permanent solution, why should Dems agree to that? You were fine when Trump refused to sign a bill that unanimously passed the Senate (and the White House had agreed to) because Rush and Ann Coulter said no. Why are you so outraged that the Dems are sticking to no wall just like he's sticking to there must be funding for the wall. |
I am furloughed and my spouse is furloughed. This is 100% the fault of the nitwit in the White House. |
So Trump gave back less than he took away for DACA and TPS - and since DACA/TPS folks are winning in the courts, it's really pointless. Securing the border? If that was really his priority, Trump would be spending the money that's already been allocated. The Dems aren't going to give in to Trump's extortion because then he'll just keep shutting down the government to get his way. It's not to "stick it to the President" - it's to preserve our system of government. You want to live in a dictatorship? There are several other countries you might be interested in. |
If Dems are so confident they can defeat the President in 2020, then why wouldn’t they jump at the three years? And the Supreme Court will rule on DACA long before then, and it won’t be pretty. |
DP. Dems are acting as if $5 billion for the wall is such a horrible thing that they need to extract more in "return" for it. In what universe it a bad to approve a relatively small amount for a barrier so that we can deter illegal aliens? |
The Supreme Court just passed on ruling on DACA. The dreamers are safe for now. Dems would be stupid to take what Trump is offering b |
Because it isn't about the wall. We will be in the same spot in October when Trump does this again. And he will. He did it 3 times last year and that was when the GOP controlled hte House and Senate. |
You do realize that the $5 billion is only for a fifth of the wall and that if they cave on this he'll keep holding important things hostage in order to get the other $20 billion, right? |
Again with the "extortion"! FFS, he's asking for money to discourage illegal aliens. To hear you talk, he's "extorting" money for his personal gain! We need to stop these endless caravans of functionally illiterate people unable to support their families, who cram in 15 to a house or 8 to an apartment. Let's go with what the Border Patrol Commisioner said, and build a wall where the illegals tend to break in. |
Wrong! The Supremes merely declined to take up the issue by this summer. They will get to it in the Fall, and the Dreamers will be vulnerable again come next year. And by that time the President very likely will have nominated RBG’s successor. So I’m sure the Dreamers are not at all happy with Nancy’s decision to reject three more years of protection. And again, this just goes to show that Democratic Leadership is not at all confident it can defeat the President, either through the Special Counsel investigation or in the next election! |
I know that's what YOU think, because you consider govt workers hostages. if anything, the Dems are keeping the govt closed because they won't OK $5 billion to help deter illegals. What Bizzaro World is this? They are so intent on rolling out the red carpet for illegals that they'd rather see govt workers go without pay than make it hard for illegals. And where is Pelos's counteroffer? I haven't seen it. She said NO to Trump's olive branch before he even stated it. PPs who have said that public sentiment will turn against the Dems if she doesn't make a counteroffer are correct. |
extortion (def) - the practice of obtaining something, especially money, through force or threats I'll type slowly - Trump is threatening the stability of our government, economy, and country by refusing to pay 800,000 government workers, in exchange for money for a pointless wall. Democrats have promised that they will provide plenty of money for useful and efficient border security if Trump reopens the government and works on a budget the way it's supposed to be done. |
Why would anyone take a bad deal now hoping they'll win an election in 2 yeats? Why would I vote for a party that stupid? |
Go read her press release. i posted it on DCUM already. She said she would negotiate border security after ending the shutdown. She released her statement shortly after his speech, but the contents of his offer were widely circulated in the press before the speech. |
