Actually, no, it's not about immigration policy, it's about the rape of a high school student. Remember her? First she's the victim of a brutal rape, then all of the so-called "conservative" media in the country, and even the press secretary, further victimize her by using her rape to further their factually-false claim that unauthorized immigrants, as a group, are a menace to society.

Jack Smith finally sent out an email this morning.

A week (!) after the 'event'.

Better late than never I guess?

A whole freaking weak after the event, and he's still referring to this as an "incident" and "tragic event." He's "sharing" with us that there "allegations of rape" only after this has been in the media for a freaking week. A tragedy is when a child dies of cancer - it's horrible and terrible, but there is no one to blame. His entire objective is to avoid any responsibility whatsoever for having completed failed to ensure this young girl's safety during school hours in the school itself!!!

Just like with the anti-semitic graffiti communications (which in contrast to this one, were sent out quickly after the events), his missives continue to "hype" the bomb threats, xenophobic calls, etc. He gives so much freaking attention to this which is exactly what those miscreants responsible for the graffiti, threats, etc. are after. This just drives more of this behavior - but maybe that's his purpose. Redirect attention away from MCPS failures.

There are 778 students in the METS program this year in MCPS. 511 of them in HS. In order to be in the METS program, a student needs to have had at least a 2-year gap in schooling or be 3 years below grade level in math and not speak English. 97% of the METS students are Spanish speaking. How fast is this METS program growing? What is the MCPS objective here? How many students are entering the MCPS system at age 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 with at least a 2-year gap in their schooling who do not speak any English?!!! Why are these adult students being "educated" in the same schools as students as young as 14?

+1000. This is his failure. It's the attempted cover up that's his downfall. He does not have reform on his agenda. His agenda is to cover his ass. I hope he gets tossed out on it. Religion is very much in play in our daily lives at schools now. Muslims can be vilified for covering their head or praying at schools (all in the news lately). And if travel bans can be imposed on Muslims, if Sikhs can be shot because they wear a turban, swastikas can be drawn, synagogues can be desecrated...then religion is very much part of the conversation, is it not?. What would have been the reaction if two Somalian-American Muslim boys were the accused in the HS rape? Even though they would have been citizens, their origin, skin color, religion would have become important. So, when Christians are doing the same crimes, why are we to keep quite?

Furthermore, we are not even sure now if this was a forced rape or consensual encounter that went too far. The fact that these boys did not flee the school is pretty telling. But, this is not what is being discussed on this forum is it? The thread about security becomes talks about illegal immigrants or non-Whites. Well, I am not able to flee anywhere even when I know that Christians are providing me the reasons to leave.

As you may have heard or read, a serious incident occurred at Rockville High School on March 16, 2017. While I can’t share many details because it is an ongoing police investigation, I can share that the incident involves allegations of rape and the arrest of two students.

The allegations presented in the charging documents are horrible and unacceptable. They do not represent the positive values of our students and school communities. Our thoughts are with the student who reported the incident and her family. Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is committed to supporting them through these difficult times.

Please know that our school staff immediately contacted the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) once they were informed about the alleged sexual assault. MCPS continues to fully cooperate with MCPD and the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office on this matter.

While I know this tragic incident has become part of a national political debate, I want to remind community members that the lives of real students have been forever affected. While many have chosen to engage civilly in the conversation, far too many have crossed the line with racist, xenophobic calls and emails. MCPS is working with law enforcement to identify those who are making threats toward our students and schools. This behavior will not be tolerated in our community.

Rockville High School staff, with the support of the MCPS administration, are working closely with their community to heal after this tragedy. Tuesday night, the Rockville High School Parent Teacher Student Association held a meeting where police and school representatives provided an update on the investigation, school security and MCPS policies. The community used this opportunity to express their concerns and ask questions of the principal, law enforcement and MCPS staff.
