I'd say it's a bit more nuanced than that. I'd say that FCPS is trolling people with a sophomoric proposal, so that they can leverage cancel culture in a transparent attempt to blame-shift a legacy of prejudice onto ethnic groups which were never really part of it.

The bottom line is that white enrollment at TJ will increase; meanwhile, different minority groups will be pitted against each other (Asians and Eastern Europeans vs Blacks and Hispanics) instead of collaborating towards mutual goals of diversity. Stereotypes of Asians being one-dimensional and Blacks being unable to succeed without giving up on standards will flow freely from the enablers. It's so obvious that you really do have to wonder whether it's motivated by pure ignorance or by intent.

There's no way that will happen. There will be incredible pressure from the top to ensure that the class of 2025 succeeds, even if that means just optics, because the Sec of Educ, Superintendent and School Board do not want to look bad. Why do you think they are going to incredible lengths to fudge standards during this pandemic, district wide? They didn't like the huge failure rate, so they just fixed it so it doesn't look as bad as it actually is. They couldn't care less about the students.

Good idea. Call the companies Board of Directors and ask for this change. Also make sure you sell the stocks of those companies if they actually consider your genius proposal.

Asra Nomani and her cronies have just lost it. They are making parents contribute 1000s for filing their lawsuits and one would think they would not be able to to survive in this world if their kids did not make it to TJ. Their Telegram group is unbelievable - making me wonder if these parents even work, or their whole day goes in obsessing about TJ. The whole movement initiated by her, her articles, propaganda are so negative.

In reality, the composition of TJ is going to change by a few percentage points at most, and with the increase in class size (from 480 to 550), there's a distinct possibility that an even greater raw number of Asian students will be admitted than before.

The bottom line is that this is and has always been about prestige. The more you listen to these QuoAnon nutjobs on this board, the more it becomes apparent that a big part of this is they just don't want their kids going to school with Black kids.

You packed a lot of cliches into one post. Perhaps there are just people who object to the overt anti-Asian racism on display. Perhaps if you focus on people, and not just racial cohorts, you'll understand what it's like to be told you are "overrepresented" when it comes to an individual child's or family's aspirations.
