Peloton Holiday ad sparks criticism

Anonymous
A REAL pushing-the-envelope ad would've featured a frumpy or sloppy-fat woman as the wife, rather than a woman who looks like she just finished P90X series.

Let's see someone who looks more like a typical suburban wife, a cringeworthy size 18, barely contained by yoga pants.

Ok, I watched it. Without the backstory I would have said that the ad wasn’t provoking me to buy a bike. I spent most if the ad confused about why she was irritated.
If I am seeing it through a critical lease I’d say my objection is that wife is portrayed as not knowing what she wants/what’s good for her. Like without the guiding of her milk toast husband she’d have wasted a year of her life. Not riding a bike that doesn’t move.
It’s just a bad ad.

+1 Spot on.

I thought the ad was a typical boring ad but find the satire and skewering downright hysterical. Plus all the triggered Peloton owners who are taking the satire and skewering seriously and are therefore very, very offended are also entertaining me. I own a Peloton and love it, too.

Yes, because I didn't let myself go after kids.

Nah for me it is concern for someone who seems like she's insecure and married a d!ck

Concern? Actual concern?

You know that's an actress, right?

Well St. Peter will surely be waiting for you at the pearly gates with that kind of virtue. She was a mean-spirited shrew on the internet, but she didn't let herself go... elevator right to heaven.

"How much it would change her?"

Uh, she doesn't look a bit different.

They should've used a fatty, and then showed before and after. Now THAT would be effective marketing.

You are really upset at the idea that someone is laughing at you on your Peloton, aren't you?

It's a dumb commercial but I don't get why people think a brand that's aspiration based - people buying a Peloton aspire to be thin - should use overweight people.

Bc she was already very thin. Her aspiration to be even thinner is what has people bashing the ad.

It’s about fitness and confidence, not fat. This isn’t hard to understand.

+1
this is the WHOLE point of the ad.
