Hilarious

New theory on the commercial - the actual actress - not the character she played in the Peleton ad - is depressed from all the backlash she and the Peleton ad are receiving. She is getting tons of threats and all the negative internet chatter is getting to her. She goes out drinking with friends and that is why the the one friend tells her she is safe here.

Lol but I don't think so. I think the new ad is hilarious. She's clearly in on the joke in it, which is why it's funny and not sad.

1) I hope Aviation threw a ton of money at her.

2) please Deadpool cameo — bike messenger maybe?

First we watch her getting the Peloton (and this is the only time we hear the husband speak), then we watch her making the saddest montage on her iphone about her Peloton journey, but she also looks directly at the camera with pleading eyes when getting on the bike and then at the end she and her husband are looking at the montage on TV and finally she's looking at her husband (us?).
It was a poorly constructed ad.

All of her work is for us (husband?).

To add to this, it’s not the script that’s problematic but the way the commercial was directed.
If she had looked at the Peloton with that worried look instead of the camera it would be interpreted that the Peloton is a difficult challenge.
If the last scene was her husband looking at her adoringly instead of the other way around it wouldn’t be about her trying to please him.

I’m going to guess the commercial was directed by a man.

The only ones triggered by the ad are the fatties. Prove me wrong.

Such a shame that we have devolved so much and the acceptance of obesity that fitness ads now are perceived as sexist or fat shaming.

This has nothing to do with obesity. The ad is creepy.

' If you are exercising then you are not working ' is the motto in the sub fleet.

Disagree. Replace the chick with a dude. It’s institutional sexism. A message to women and girls that your worth is being slim and hot. Not heathy. Hot, and spending your entire life being hot for the male gaze.

Go look at the people writing the articles and the people posting on Twitter. Also, post this on Twitter and see the responses you get.

i thought the ad was fine. I got the sense that she felt a feeling of strength and personal fulfillment from it. She was thin to start and looked about the same so it wasn't a weight loss thing. She has little kids and probably couldn't fit in gym time, asked for the bike and her husband gave it to her- I'd be thrilled if I woke up to a peleton and wouldn't take it as a hint to lose weight.

The ad didn't bother me, but it did make me think of the weird subculture of people who are obsessed and post incessantly in the Peloton facebook groups about the life changing powers of the bike. Before I had a Peloton I was going to SoulCycle regularly and they had an equally-strange subculture of people who are obsessed. I think some people are just more prone to addictive behavior and exercise is a vice for many.

I’ve noticed this too. Saw people wearing Peloton branded clothing. Is this a thing? People buy that?

EVERY fitness brand has the weird, obsessed subculture who post incessantly about their "journeys" on social media. Doesn't matter if it's SoulCycle, OrangeTheory, Solidcore ... I do think it's the addictive personality thing, and perhaps attention seeking?

This has nothing to do with weight. The people in the ad come off as massively annoying.

I didn't get why everyone was upset.
