PP was commenting that there are other options, versus driving. But, the other PP was pointing out that public transport isn't actually a good option for most families at 9pm for after BTS night. I agree.

Another way to say that is: "It's more convenient to drive."

I agree they should have bathrooms, but they don’t at the other schools either. Kids and adults hold it.

Adults hold it. Kids do not.

One game we were at (at a different MS), one girl even went into the woods to do a #2. Now, THAT would be gross on turf.

Uh, OK. I never saw that at any MSI games I attended but sure. We all held it or drove to an actual bathroom.

Plus I love how you think a kid is pooping in the middle of the soccer field. Right

The bus service does not have anywhere close to the capacity to manage the number of people attending the event and is literally not an option. It also ends too early to carry all the people who would need to transfer busses to get to their neighborhoods. That is different than..yeah my kids could walk to the bus one block away but I prefer to drive them. You never know when it might rain. I am afraid of dogs.

Children and adults go behind a tree. They do it all the time. Maybe your kid goes in the middle of the field, but others go off to a tree.

It literally is an option, for some people. Not for everybody. But for some. Even if they choose not to use that option.

Another option, for some people (not everybody, but some people), is walking.

And another option, for some people (not everybody, but some people), is biking.

This thread demonstrates why are politics suck. People are reacting here without doing any research or trying to understand all the dynamics at play in the decision.

MoCo is the most unique county in America in that it is led by a liberal establishment that is completely out of touch with reality.

Does anyone know what is going on between MCPS and the City of Rockville? The fields are ready, however, MSI is not allowed to use them. A note from the MSI director to coaches:

If you are receiving this email, it is because there has been a change to your schedule for this coming weekend, September 28/29. Please go to the MSI website to view your updated schedule (posted just this afternoon).

Construction of MSI's 4 new fields at Julius West MS has been completed now for a couple of weeks, but City of Rockville continues to withhold permission for use of the fields, due to an ongoing disagreement with MCPS. Julius West MS students are enjoying all the benefits of these new playing surfaces, but unfortunately the players and families of MSI are "collateral damage". There is a meeting scheduled tomorrow between those two entities, after which we will know whether we need to reschedule the entire rest of the season's games that currently are scheduled at Julius West MS (which may or may not involve your teams). This effort will bring the number of rescheduled games to approximately 500 games that could not be played on the new fields this season, while the fields sit ready for kids to enjoy them, an administrative effort that has been as difficult on MSI staff and referees as it has been inconvenient for MSI families. We apologize for all this, and hope our public leaders will come to a resolution, soon.

Thanks for your understanding.

Thank you, MSI. Your donation is well appreciated. However, MCPS is covering the maintenance cost which is not cheap.

Again, there are too many, high-minded liberals in this county who are delusional and unfortunately, vote in leaders like themselves who a ruining this county with their ideals.

What an odd thing to post on a thread about artificial-grass playing fields.

MCPS did not know this when they signed the agreement?

MSI, how about you stop lying to your members? Where is the signed agreement with MCPS that you were supposed to execute before the fields were opened to your private company? Forgot about that?

Annual maitenance of the two Julius West Middle School artificial turf soccer fields installed for MSI Soccer will cost the MCPS Operating Budget $20,000 per year. MSI Soccer is not paying for maintenance, clean up, repairs or removal when the fields are used up in 7 years.
