| WTF is “MSI Soccer Stadium take over for Julius West Middle School fields” supposed to mean? I have no idea what your meeting is about or whonits for or why it’s posted here. |
MSI Soccer has taken over all of the fields and the students have only the tennis courts to play on. |
At all times? Or just Saturdays for games? MSI paid for those fields. |
The playground is gone. It has all been removed and the MSI stadiums have been built. That's 24/7. Why did public school children lose their field to a private company? |
There was a playground at a middle school? Are the fields only for MSI use, and nobody else uses them? |

Here is the background:

If a private company paid for round the clock use of a field the community used to play on, then there is definitely a problem - the field owner should have done its due diligence regarding community input. |
|
Oh Lord, more turf fields. Don't people understand that they are bad for children's health????? It's better to each contribute money to maintain a grass field than it is to let a private business pay for turf. |
They only paid for part of the fields. Maintenance, upkeep and replacement is on taxpayers. The Board of Education gave away the field and is taking money out of the school budget to fund maintenance and replacement. Less teachers, more artificial turf is the Board of Education's motto. |
No, it's not round the clock use, it's a limited number of hours per year, and the school has first priority. |
|
"Under the terms of the settlement agreement, MSI will provide $1.2 million to construct an artificial turf field at Walt Whitman High School. Additionally, MSI will provide as much as $2.4 million to construct turf fields at Julius West Middle School and $1.2 million to upgrade the field at Einstein High School to artificial turf. In exchange, MSI will have access to use these fields for a set number of scheduled hours per year for the next ten years, when they are not reserved for school use. The construction of the fields will be contingent on various approvals from the county and the City of Rockville." |
It is round the clock. The fields are gone. Softball? Baseball? Football? Gone. The fields are now soccer stadiums. There are two soccer stadiums. There are now huge stadium light poles all over the field. They are massive hazards to children running around. The edges of the stadiums are concrete. Don't fall there. Play soccer or forget about using the playgrounds. The stadiums are filled with silica sand a known carcinogen. Don't create any dust, don't slide, don't inhale. The stadiums are plastic and will run 30-60 degtrees hotter than natural grass. Temperatures can reach 150 degrees well into late fall. That's a permanent 24/7 change to what used to be a field a grass. |
Where is the agreement? The public has never seen it. Why did elected Board of Education members cut a private deal with a private company? No court ordered this, Board members cut this secret deal all on their own. |
How is this round the clock? In exchange, MSI will have access to use these fields for a set number of scheduled hours per year for the next ten years, when they are not reserved for school use. |
