Well, son, I'm not a socialist. Competing leagues is the Demoractic way. Its stops harmful monopolys from taking hold. I having a saying as well. Want to hear it? "Never put you eggs in one basket". Meaning: one should not concentrate all efforts and resources in one area as one could lose everything. Pay attention. |
OK nutjob. As for the "son" comment, feel free to name a place and time so we can take care of your attitude. Internet tough guy. |
|
I'm a nut job because I produced a valid counter point. Now you're BIG mad.
Go read your book called " who moved the cheese". I'm not interested in your 7th grade mentality. |
Nope, you're a nutjob because you manufacture opposing arguments from thin air. Then you respond with condescension. You don't want to get together to chat about this? Typical. The point that ECNL is obsolete has yet to be challenged. This isn't socialist, it's just fact. There's already a plentiful market of options out there, including DA and ECNL. ECNL can stick around and US Soccer can claim what's theirs, the NT births. You seem personally slighted by this. Then, the market can decide where they want to play. |

When the debate is lost, slander becomes the tool of the loser.' -Socrates.
Trying to use fear and intimidation to sale a product is a losing strategy when it comes to educated buyers. It's a red flag when you need to continually convince people that your product is better and the consumer is black balled if you dont use it. The only people debating this is parents. US Soccer will never limit their scope to just DA. The only thing they will do is force the ECNL kids they did select to join a DA club. Then they can falsely report the number of NT kids they developed. |
| LOL. Who exactly is being “slandered” here? Gosh the concern over US Soccer having NT players only play in the DA must be very hurtful. |
That's not the debate. NT players should play in the DA. Doesnt make a difference. However, the DA is just a league. It will not make them better. The absence of NT players does not kill the ECNL. You are talking 20 kids per age group. The point being debated is whether the ECNL remains a real option for 99 percent of the players who want to play college ball. The answer is YES. |
Nail on head right here. |
|
ECNL is obsolete because US Soccer decided they wanted to run a league? In what other country does the national soccer governing body run the top youth league? I guess all of the clubs leaving the DA to go to ECNL missed your memo.
PP pointing out leagues do not produce players could not be more correct. |
No one was arguing what other countries do. Other countries who do things better on the boys side are able to do so with the huge revenues associated with their pro teams. That doesn’t happen in the US. One size will not fit all. By the way, the women’s side, which is what is under debate here has been doing just fine with one de facto elite league (ECNL) and now another. There’s no reason to think how the US is doing women’s soccer is a problem at this point. US women have been and continue to be competitive, if not dominant. |

ECNL:
Change from birth years to graduation years teams Promote their league as the college placement league. Appeal to the 99 percent. Let DA continue to market to the one percent. Again, US Soccer saw how successful ECNL was and tried to steal it. Now they want you to believe that the ECNL was detrimental to US Soccer and had to take it over. Now their minions are trying to make you believe the same. Again, leagues dont create NT players. It's way deeper than that. Maybe that's where US soccer needs to start focusing on vs. Youth leagues. I personal would rather see fully funded regional boarding schools/Academies dedicated to educating and training elite HS players selected by US Soccer. |
| The boys did this at IMG and shutvit down. |
That would be a blessing. |

1. Women's side is doing just fine? Look at recent performances from U17, U20, WNT and so on. The U20s lost big time to the Netherlands, niether the U17s nor the U20s were serious WC contenders. The WNT y beat Spain. Spain! That would have been unthinkable 10 years ago.
2. Anyone who tries to argue that a fall season + high school is as good for you developmentally as a full year of club soccer is confused. Anyone who thinks 3 days of games in a row is good for you is also confused. DA showcases require a day off. Is that harder to schedule? Sure, but playing Friday, Saturday, Sunday, or playing 2 games Saturday or Sunday leads to overuse injuries - big and small. 3. The ECNL has establishment on its side. It's been here. It's also much better at marketing, but none of those are good reasons to prevail. I want to see the 2 consolidate, but in the end I don't care ho good PDA is or even Nationals. I just want to see my daughter become the best version of herself she can. I know she has grown so much more in the DA, than she ever could with ECNL + high school + even ODP. That's all I care about. |
