Yet you are painting all whites with the same brush...

Huh? Her point is if she was in Georgetown at the same time, and 5 white male Georgetown students turned the corner she would not be afraid. However, since it was 5 black kids she was. Does that make her racist? |
I'm pretty sure PP was just making the same sweeping generalizations as the previous poster to make a point. |

Question: Are men more privileged than women in our society?
Answer: Yes Question: So does that mean all men are sexist? Answer: No it just means men have more advantages and don't have as many challenges in our society as women. It would be sexist to DENY the fact and therefore refuse to empathize with women who don't have such advantages and have to face such challenges. Question: Are whites more privileged than people of color in our society? Answer: Yes Question: So does that mean all white people are racist? +1 I think one poster (or more) seem to feel that by admitting white privilege exists - it means they are racist. It does not. |
Sorry is it 1950 and there are only white bankers? At my local wells fargo everyone is either black. Hispanic or middle eastern. If i am white will the black banker favor me? |
+ 1 I agree with the PP. Even if we assume that there's some subtle form of white privilege, I'm seeing that black people use that as an excuse as to why, as a group, they are not doing as well as whites - rather than examine how they themselves contribute to unequal outcomes. Basically, it's a way of saying it's always someone else's fault. If blacks would do ONE thing that the majority of whites do, it would go a long way to reducing poverty, discouraging crime, creating families less dependent on welfare, and negating the stereotypes they are fighting against: Get married before you have a baby. |
But the point is we aren't talking about individuals - we are talking about the system. Overall, minorities have a harder time getting loans. |
To make a point so you GET IT. |
I had your back at 15:27. Unfortunately they didn't get it.... |
No the pp suggested discrimination citing the same credit score for both loan applicants. No one cares as long as the minority is making big money. Everyone is greedy. |
Because their credit is usually worse. Most lending is incredibly regulated to avoid discrimination. Maybe in 1970, not now. |
my point was it doesn't matter what color the individual banker is. There is a systemic problem. |
It's the system! It's the MAN! That's the problem with liberalism. Groupthink makes it easy for the individual to not do a damn thing to help his/her own situation. How fatalistic! |
Please read again. It was made clear that the reaction is situation dependent. Just because someone saw 5 black men approaching doesn't mean they are there to rape her. It depends on place and time, and other factors. It is better safe than sorry. But here is the same situation that could have worked really bad for the black guys. Supposed she called cops and complains that she is afraid of the 5 black men. If the cops are white and books them on some made up charge because he believed her word, then that is racism. Do you think if those men were white, they will face the same serious charges or let go after hearing their side of the story? |
