Too bad he didn’t just kill himself first before taking out 9 innocent lives.
These poor families.

German-Iranian, 18. I'd like to hear more about his parents/family and upbringing.

Alienation is a common theme in the young. Catcher in the Rye is based on it. But when people feel empowered by the chauvinistic/nihilistic threads in a movement they are capable of doing this - killing children eating their dinner. Neo Nazis are the same way, but they mostly have found comfort just in being with each other in modern times, a limited clubhouse. These people are operating alone, seeking that community in the after life I guess. Suicidal attack in Muslim culture goes back centuries. The word assassin comes from 'hashish eaters'--which they were fed before they went on their suicidal missions. It's like the Roman empire and barbarians. And the Roman empire was soft and decadent and lost that round. Western world wake up. You have not declared war on Islamic extremism. It has declared war on you.

Thank you. I appreciate your thoughts on this. But how can we know if they operate alone? Just because we can't find proof that they weren't operating alone? If someone else knew this was coming, why would they come forward if they can cover their tracks?

I don't think they all operate alone...but it is an asymmetrical, disruptive model of warfare. And we need to adapt.

Most Iranians I know are pretty secular, so this may not be a jihadi but simply a disaffected 18 years old German-Iranian with no terrorist agenda.

Perhaps. But where does an 18 year old disaffected German teenager get his guns? I suspect that he had help.

Quite a bit of your history is wrong. "Assassins" is derived from the Arabic Hashashin, but that refers to the Nizari Ismaili sect of Islam. That group is an offshoot of Shia Islam which itself is a minority group of Muslims. The primary targets of the Assassins were Sunni Muslims (though Genghis Khan and Richard the Lionheart were other prominent targets) and the group really has nothing to do with Muslim culture as a whole.

According to translations in the subsequent tweets, the shooter says he is German, was born in Germany, and was bullied while in social services. But, if a good German-speaker could confirm this, it would be helpful.

He could have been born in Germany but is the child of immigrants and most likely he is Muslim is my bet.

Yep. I lived in Berlin and Munich 2002-2004. Safe, safe cities. Big Turkish population in Berlin that was well assimilated.

Let's say it : radical Islam. That is what has gone viral. Freaks are drawn to it like a magnet. You can be nice and sweet and they still want to kill you because you are a non-believer (yes you newborn baby, 10-year old boy, etc).

They are told to come. Fit in and lay low (like the 9/11 killers at the strip bars; the college student and his brother responsible for the Boston bombings, the Orlando shooter that frequented Pulse)...all described as friendly. Read the websites by Isil, etc on how to spread Islam. Chilling.

I'm not afraid of immigration. My ancestors were immigrants. I'm afraid of the current talk of "let them all in and just be nice"...completely missing the point of that some are banking on just that to spread the evil dogma.

It's the ideology we need to change. Yes, war and bombing will probably only make it spread---but teaching these actions are bad and it's a threat to humanity and you should t do this to susceptible populations is not being done either---we aren't even allowed to call it what it is.

Please point to any candidate or elected leader who is advocating to "just let [refugees] all in and just be nice" -- for example, without the rigorous vetting process that takes 18-24 months? And where are the jackbooted thugs who are preventing you from calling an act of terrorism whatever floats your boat, even if it has the potential to offend most followers of Islam.

One witness that has been documented. But, there is also a witness saying the shooter made an anti-foreignert slur:

http://www.foxnews.com/world/2016/07/22/shots-fired-at-shopping-center-in-munich-reports-say.html

Witness Luan Zequiri told German broadcaster NTV that he heard the attacker yell an anti-foreigner slur and "there was a really loud scream."

I don't know but there were many refugees brought into Florida, and their process did not take a year and a half.

What kind of disorganized, sick society is Germany that any 18 year old can just get a pistol and start killing children at a restaurant?

At least in America, we forbid handgun ownership until at least 21.

Yep. The Syrians flooding Europe were rushed in; many without proper documentation. Jihadists were freely moving back and forth.
