Um, isn't that how it's been for the last 200+ years? |
PP prefers to return the days of slavery, when those jobs were performed by citizens. 3/5 of a citizen, but still. |
| Keep blaming the "others" for all your social-economic problems while the rich get richer. Hell! It is so entertaining to see common folk tearing each other apart. Bread and Circuses!! |
You do know Obama has deported more than any other president right? |
Actually, back then, it was the same discussion, but different groups of immigrants. http://www.ushistory.org/us/25f.asp https://history.state.gov/milestones/1866-1898/chinese-immigration http://www.theatlantic.com/national/archive/2011/11/racist-anti-immigrant-cartoons-from-the-turn-of-the-20th-century/383248/ |
like white people in the past 300 years, and how they brought in slavery of an entire race, and segregation of all non white people? |
I am talking about ethnic group, not skin color. |
Sigh.... No he hasn't. He simply started counting people turned away at the border as deportations, something that was never done before, to inflate the deportation numbers. Actual deportations from the interior are down over 40%. http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-obama-deportations-20140402-story.html From the article: "Expulsions of people who are settled and working in the United States have fallen steadily since his first year in office, and are down more than 40% since 2009. On the other side of the ledger, the number of people deported at or near the border has gone up — primarily as a result of changing who gets counted in the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency's deportation statistics." |
I'm an early PP. The ones I know came in illegally with their parents, then got approval to stay through the Dream Act, and got college paid for them. Now, one claims disability and can never work again. He's not here legally, and we're paying disability for his whole life, unless he (hopefully) gets deported. I don't want to pay to support him. Does anyone else? |
I'm a PP. I never thought about this before. My mother's car was hit by a snowplow running a red light when she advanced at a green light, pinning her car to the car next to her, and sending them both to the hospital. The plow driver was illegal, no driver's license, and his employer's business license was revoked. I always just thought the driver had been careless but this is interesting to consider, though I may not agree either way. |
Your problem is that you define a working visa program as "anyone who wants to come here, can." |
Slaves were not the only people here doing hard physical dirty work. |
+100 |
And there's still a lot of work to be done. |
Agreed. |
