Which . . . they would be under different laws here. Perhaps people will view this as an opportunity to change things.

Muhammad taught and practiced equality and respect for woman.

Today, Islamic legal and social systems around the world approach and fall short of women's rights by varying degrees but not because it is was ever something Muhammad believed or practiced.

Is that why Germany is now seeing a spike in genital mutilation? That kind of equality?

What about the 500,000 reported cases of US citizens with genital mutilation??? Parents had it done even though it is outlawed here.

Genital mutilation is practiced in multiple nonMuslim communities, like Copts.

Wrong again. SOME, not all, women's groups support SOME "refugees" coming from all over the world be it African or Muslim or Christians from Middle east. No one SAYS EXCLUSIVELY TO GET MUSLIMS alone. Besides the point these are REFUGEES which are a different class than Normal Immigrants, even the refugees are NOT IN MILLIONS. Get your facts straight. But I know you are not capable coz you afterall posted the growth of overall muslim population(which includes a good number of black americans) in the USA as proof of Muslim immigrant GROWTH. Apparently RC and Analytical procesing is not your strong suite. So think and analyze before you post, if you can.

Different poster you are arguing with above. Obviously there are several people with similar points of view. I am liberal and have a little girl and I want to ensure that our society is heading in the right direction and not going backwards. By doing the "liberal" thing which may seem kind in letting in refugees and others that want to harm us, we are hurting others like lgbt, women's rights, etc... Friends that grew up in these societies and fled them and are not religious are petrified of the influx of immigrants. They escaped the culture to come here and now you go to Tyson's mall and so many women are head to toe in burkas and were sitting at separate tables from their husbands. It was very strange and it was obvious it was not their choice to sit there. They didn't look very happy. Very sad and hard to believe they really want to wear a hot burka in Summer weather.
The women is covered head to toe, yet you were able to perceive that:

a. The men they sat separately from were their husbands
b. It was obvious it wasn't their choice and
c. They didn't look very happy.

I'm curious - what magic powers do you have that allow you to see through face covers, much less detect such subtle nuances on faces covered by burkas? You should be making billions of dollars if you can really see through fabric.

Not the pp but a female hispanic convervative here. The more I learn about middle eastern countries under Sharia law the more I am appalled by the mistreatment of women. For example, they aren't allowed to dance or hold hands with men in public yet it is a normal practice in these countries for middle to wealthy men to take on young boys and practice pedophilia mostly known as 'dancing boys'. It is actually ingrained in their culture and conflicts with Sharia law but it has been going on for centuries and it is still sickeningly practiced today where they take these boys who are orphaned or who are extremely poor with false promises and prostitute them or rape them. Ironically it all but stopped when the Taliban rose then started back up again.

I just visited Yakima WA, and the city is under HUGE strain because of the influx not of legal immigrants, but illegal, undocumented immigrants.

No doubt we need immigration reform but not because I hate immigrants or think they are getting freebies here. It just makes economic sense. That being said you should research and read the data before vilifying immigrants. Since 1990, immigration to the United States has increased significantly. Yet, crime rates have decreased in the last 26 years. Furthermore, Mexican immigration has decreased in the last decade to the point that the number of illegals coming in has been cancelled out by the number deported. Moreover, illegal immigrants do not get free healthcare unless it is for emergency purposes. Otherwise, they have to pay. Same holds true for US citizens. Immigrants are people who just want a better life for themselves and their children. It takes a lot of courage and desperation to leave your country and try to make it in another where you don't speak the language and where you are treated as an outsider that is not welcomed into the community. I lived in Japan for two years and learned to value the immigrant experience. Not speaking the language and passing restaurants with signs saying no foreigners allowed was difficult. In Japan they would put red lanterns to let you know it was Japanese only. Happens all the time in homogenous countries, which is why ex-pats find each other. You shouldn't,t allow yourself to be manipulated into immigrant resentment with biased news pieces and skewed data you read off websites and publications that are anti-multiculturalism. You will find many hateful sites that try to sound educated and provide statistical evidence. Yet, they skew the data, which basically means withhold certain information in order to lead you to their own incorrect conclusion. You must be educated enough to find the data and analyze it yourself. I challenge you to educate yourself, be a compassionate person and take action to make Ametica better because I think it is already really great. Anyone who says otherwise has not truly travelled the world to understand how ridiculous any statement to the contrary sounds to the educated and informed.

Yes , you're exactly right. But think about it, once you so distort the treatment of women so many other relationships wil suffer as well. This society wide distortion is not only an injustice to girls/women but also to the little boys brought into the world and taught to see women on such terms.

Yet it's not the Copts overrunning Germany, wreaking havoc right now.

I try my best to hire Americans, legal immigrants, etc... It costs more to do work on houses in much cheaper parts of the country ( in my experience) because they are not flooded with illegals driving wages down.

I don't think the issue has much to do with terror, more to do with jobs and wages.

This is so untrue. My gardener and housekeeper are all immigrants and are here legally. I ask to see their papers when hiring them. In fact, they are disappointed that illegal immigrants that offer lower prices take their positions. Most people I know also only hire legal employees.
