Well, you have to basically pass an IQ test to get into the military, so that will weed out a lot of the really stupid folks. It's been estimated based on AFQT scores that the average IQ for enlisted is around 105; or better than 65% of the people in the US. Enlisted in the military aren't the dregs of society you seem to think they are; they're just average folks (above average actually) that happen to want to serve their country.

Thank you, pp. This is true. My son, college educated, decided to enlist after college. Why? He wanted to serve his country and by enlisting, he was able to choose the MOS he wanted. Had he gone in as an officer, that wouldn’t have happened. There are lots of others like him.

Education Level. The majority (83.2%) of officers have a Bachelor’s or higher degree. Few
enlisted members (6.5%) have a Bachelor’s degree or higher, while most (92.5%) have a high
school diploma and/or some college experience but less than a Bachelor’s degree.[b] Compared
to 1995, the percentage of total Active Duty members who have a Bachelor’s and/or an
advanced degree has decreased for officers (from 89.6% in 1995 to 83.2% in 2013), but has
increased for enlisted personnel (from 3.4% in 1995 to 6.5% in 2013).

The military doesn't attract the best and the brightest. It's easier to target kids with no direction and few skills. easier to mold them through group think

Not hypocritical. Women already sacrifice when it comes to pregnancy, childbearing and childbirth. This is the sacrifice we make for humanity and for our country. Men don't do anything on this front besides stick it in.

Sure women can be drafted but in a real war, women will be at home. Someone has to have children and raise children. Only women can have babies. Men are physically unable to do so. And it only takes one man to impregnable hundreds of women.

Don't worry about that. The women eligible for selective service are in their 18s to 30s.
Since women here are delaying childbirth and only having them in their 30s they won't be impacted.

Ultimate sacrifice indeed, easy to fish out but really no one here are having babies in their 20s right now. What happened to exploring the world, finding yourself blah blah.

And if women can go into high flying corporate jobs during this age they can be drafted for selective service. Easy to pull out the caging for children part when it suits you, now a days aren't there day cares galore? What caring for children.

My dad was in the military. My nephew served. My father-in-law fought in Vietnam. We have friends who both served in the navy. I can love my family and friends, but I don't have to agree with their life choices. That's not hypocrisy; that's the ability to think critically.

I don't want my children (I have a son and a daughter.) to be placed in harm's way to fight any group willing die in the name of (Add your special god/cause here).

Everyone loves their kids. No one likes the idea of the draft. However under current us law, your son is liable no matter how much you love him. Your daughter should not get a free pass because of her genitelia. That's it.
