Murder at Lululemon in Bethesda

Anonymous
I personally hope this crime is solved and all of the unanswered questions get revealed. I can't imagine anyone working in that store again! And believe me anyone that would murder someone over Lululemons daily cash intake is a SAD, SAD person or persons! 100,000. from Lululemon is like a million to some people. It is a good start! I was driving down Arlington coming home from Sorrento's at the time this went on! In a million years, it would have NEVER occurred to me that something like this could be going on. SO SAD!

A witness to two men IN MASKS?
You can't ID anyone who was wearing a mask.
And maybe they left her for dead?
Right, she was in cahoots and she's been hospitalized for days after being raped.
You folks need to watch CSI and SVU all the way til the end!

While we're getting up in arms about unsolved murders in the area, here are a few more from the district. I wonder if we'll extend the same level of outrage/confusion/sympathy to these victims. Something (perhaps a quick perusal of their pictures) tells me we won't...

The victim had posted a youtube video from inside the store on the day she died. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyiDi7-2sHw&feature=channel_video_title
It's crazy that everything can feel so normal and safe one minute and be completely devastated the next. I hope the police catch the horrific people who did this.

I know that people want to think that one of the victims is involved because random crime is scary. And you can say "it doesn't add up" all you want. Crime isn't nice and neat and it doesn't fit into the little package that you want it to. Sorry to tell you that, but it just doesn't.

The speculation reminds me of the first few days after the Harvey family murders (go ahead and look that up if you don't know what I'm talking about, but be warned, it's awful), where the police were saying that no one should be worried because it was someone they knew. It was NOT someone they knew, it was random, and it is extremely horrifying to think that ANYONE can just be killed anytime because some lowlife walks by and decides it's time to commit a murder.

Honestly, I won't. It's not because I wished that fate on the deceased in DC it is because I am able to identify with the woman who was murdered in Bethesda. I live near there, shop there and she could be a friend, relative etc. This feels very close to home.

But a set-up for what? To steal credit card receipts? There wouldn't be much cash in a store like this.
The peeps went in with intent to harm. It would have had to be a personal vendetta. It seems unlikely.
It's possible that the survivor is a suspect but police have to tread VERY lightly with this because she has been through a lot and they have no evidence indicating that she's not an innocent victim.
My husband thought maybe they planned to break into Lululemon to access the Apple store next door, since Lululemon had no surveillance...though that seems unlikely, too.
btw, if you google lululemon, this thread comes up...so it's possible other people besides DCUM'ers will read all of these speculations. But I think it's a natural response to such a tragedy.

Meant to write "this speculation".

This is one of the things that makes me question the whole story. The police have been very clear that this began as a robbery that turned bad and that the assailants did leave with the proceeds from the store and probably not any merchandise. That makes me wonder why they didn't just follow someone with a new iPad to their car on a side street and grab it. If they had no information that money would be in the store, then all logic would point to grabbing one iPad because they would know the value is pretty high. A store that is already closed might hold very little cash. But some nights are better to rob a store than others because on some nights the store will hold a lot of cash which will be deposited the next day. It's possible that the assailants had some inside information. If they only intended to murder and rape, then it makes no sense to wait around in an extremely busy area like Bethesda. It is easy for rapists to find women to victimize in less populated areas where the risk of being caught is lower.

I am definitely not saying that I think I know what happened. I am only saying that the story doesn't quite add up for me. Either way, this is just too horrible for words and it is more compelling and frightening for me than many of the murders in the city because random acts of violence that do not involve drugs or domestic disputes are rare. When something this seemingly random happens, I am going to try to understand it even if that's impossible without more details. It's just human nature.

It is fascinating to read this thread, then the male thread on the same subject (posted by someone above - here it is again: http://maryland.247sports.com/Board/56/Murder-on-Bethesda-Row-1414043/1)

Two totally different styles, but discussing the same questions.

Just horrific. Someone on that thread said that the police suspect some grifters in the area (who match the height descriptions and were seen that night), and mentioned that they most likely thought the second girl was dead, too, because her injuries were so awful.

I can't imagine how awful those women's families feel right now. How does her mother ever escape that terror/horror of knowing her daughter was tortured to death? It is so unbearable and yet there is no choice but to bear it.

Because it's never too early in the morning for race-baiting, I guess. ;-p Tiresome.

On other public forums people are also mentioning a box cutter was used (I am not going to be graphic and say why) and a hammer. How do they know this....it also popped up on this site?

Does anyone know anything about the other girl? I would think that there are people out there who know who she is. Also, they have not released who called who but from the information provided, I think Jayna was the manager with the keys so it would only be the survivor who would have called to get back into the store.

So many weird pieces of this and I hope they can catch these people are have this story end soon. It will not end happily but atleast knowing will ease the minds of the victims families and the public.

I think all unsolved mysteries are sad. But I'll admit I get more up in arms about some. Why? Because of the people killed? No. Because of relative location to my house and/or if it happens in an area where you don't expect it to happen? Why? Because I think its human nature to try to convince yourself you are "safe" if you go to "safe" places. And so when a murder happens in a neighborhood that I used to think was safe - it suddenly makes me feel very unsafe because it points out the falicy that I am safe in certain areas. To me, D.C. is not a safe area. It doesn't mean I don't tear up when I hear on the news that someone is harmed or killed. I think it's horrible. But it doesn't provoke the same kind of public outcry because its not as unexpected.

And I'm not saying that there shouldn't be more of a public outcry to the deaths in D.C. I'm just explaining part of the reason you don't see one.

Please, stop this. The media does not identify victims of sexual assault. I am sure that people who know the victim is, and out of respect, I hope that no one posts that information here. Someone has already said that a google search of these murders brings up this thread. Can you imagine being a relative or friend of one of the victims and reading all this? (not your post necessarily, but all the "innocent speculation" posts where people are saying one of the victims was actually a perpetrator)

I'm hoping that someone who knows the criminals who did this sees the gigantic reward and turns them in.
