Pomona falls to ADL, Brandeis Center for Antisemitism, no mention of Islamophobia

Not surprising given the absolute sh*tshow last year and at graduation.

I wouldn’t say graduation was a sh!tshow

I wasn’t there, but it sounded pretty ugly. “Minor fights” between protesters and families, batter on LEO, etc.

Settlements at UCLA, Columbia and Pomona as demanded by the US government, with undoubtedly more to come, indicate that the same applies to the US as well.

Meanwhile, a Zionist mob ran wild at UCLA, attacking a pro-Palestinian encampment, while UCLA police watched and did nothing.

Wait, are you actually suggesting Israel shouldn't exist? Yeah, that's a problem

Not as a theocracy, apartheid state, no. Your defending it is the problem.

A multicultural Palestine with federalism and protected minorities, including Jews? Sounds good to me.

This is hilarious. I’m laughing. There has never been a sustained multicultural Arab country where Jews or Christians for that matter have been protected. We are forced to pay tax and be second class citizens, and then come the pogroms and we are either forced out or fortunate enough to escape.

Meanwhile Israel is busy bombing churches in Gaza and burning Christian villages in the West Bank. Muslim, Christians and Jews lived together in Palestine and other Arab countries for centuries. Arab countries absorbed and welcomed the refugees from 1942 Spain and Jews fleeing the Holocaust in Europe. And look what thanks the Palestinians got for welcoming them! Whatever enmity there is started with the creation of Israel and the ensuing wars and Israel’s continuing overt and covert aggression against the Arab countries, as well as their horrible treatment of the Palestinians.

This is a load of bullshit. There is a designation under islamic law for non-muslims living within islamic land and how they should be treated. It's is second class citizenship.
And jews were not welcomed in 1924 by muslims. Palestine was a BRITISH mandate in 1924 and there was plenty of violence between Jews and Muslims. The mufti of jerusalem famously met with hitler.

And it's a little disingenuous to characterize war a "treatment of the Palestinians." This is war, these are all casualties of war. A war Gaza started. A war that Gaza can end at any time.

It is tough to end the war when Israel bombs peace negotiators to prevent war from ending. You are one naive dude.

"Most of you know little and care even less about what is going on in the middle east but you have strong opinions nonetheless."

As an introduction to the topic, consider the analysis of Holocaust and genocide scholar Omer Bartov:

Historian Omer Bartov on why he believes Israel is committing genocide in Gaza : NPR https://share.google/ej53sC1UHrjafQTGm

Note that Bartov was late in his conclusion, preferring to wait until he saw the available evidence as undeniably convincing that Israel has been comitting a genocide.

Huh. I was there the whole weekend and didn’t see or hear about anything like that.

Worst thing we experienced was the speeches for each of the multiple honorary grads, including one who told the grads to try and make as much money as possible.

The person (or people) defending Zionism and the State of Israel’s policies and actions here is/are a lost cause.

Truly - a lost cause.

As for Pomona, ignominy should rain down relentlessly on Pomona and any other institution capitulating to these corrupt pressures and essentially creating a supercharged DEI cocoon for Zionists.

DP. Regardless of one’s opinions on Israel/Gaza, from a Pomona perspective the problem was clearly the protesters who went completely out of control. Can’t have students assaulting security, destroying buildings, trapping other kids in buildings, etc.

Jewish population in Palestine was 39,000 in 1914 and went to over 600,000 by 1947. This was fueled by Zionist immigration. The population went from under 5% to over 30% before the 1948 Arab-Israeli. These new immigrants were not peaceful and killed Palestinians and stole their property. The founding of Israel was through terrorism. Non-Jews in Israel are second class citizens living in an apartheid state.

Sure. Let’s address that right after you express support for charging, arresting, trying, convicting and incarcerating (for a very long time) the Zionist terrorists who committed violent felony after violent felony after violent felony in attacking the UCLA encampment last year.

Only then will the finger wagging and pearl clutching over library doors being banged on and students being “forced” to walk an extra 24 steps to class (instead of being welcomed with open arms to traipse through the middle of a lawful, constitutionally-protected exercise of assembly and speech rights) be taken seriously by anyone outside the Zionism echo chamber.

Pomona-specific incidents ARE relevant, but until the actual serious criminal activity that occurred on college campuses last year has been addressed, the transparent act of caving to these groups that don’t give a rip about safety for all, as long as their interests are elevated, is gross. Sickening, actually.

That was 2024— last year was certainly a sh!tshow but 2025 was different.

Sorry— that was 2024, which was a sh!tshow all year up thru graduation (which the admin rescheduled at the last minute meaning some families missed it) but 2025 was very different. Thought you were referring to 2025 graduation.

Yeah 2025 is completely different. President Starr made it so that if you organize any protest and something wrong happens, it's your fault and you will get suspended (and potentially expelled). They've effectively shut $hit down.

President Starr went completely East German Stasi when kids barged in on an event earlier this fall, asking students to become informers - everything. She is an embarrassment to Pomona. Never attended or taught at a liberal arts college before walking into the Pomona presidency; a SLAC defines “community” a little differently than NYU.

“Barged in on an event”?

Why don’t you share the full story?

They’re lucky they didn’t get shot.
