Pomona falls to ADL, Brandeis Center for Antisemitism, no mention of Islamophobia

Glad they realize they cannot make some of their students feel unsafe. They must make it a safe place for all enrolled students.

And get rid of the foreign actors on their campuses.

Racist.

I find it very weird that OP frames this as Pomona “falls” … when in fact the Office of Civim Rights, US Dept of Education brought this action against Pomona and Occidental College in April 2024 (Biden? for severe violations of Jewish Students’ right. Oxy settled on November 2024 with promises to make changes. Now Pomona, too.

This is the bare minimum that Pomona needed to do.

None of these acts are antisemitic, however.

How ‘bout the “Heil Hitler” graffiti? That clear cut enough for you?

I’m going to need a cite for that allegation.

Today, the Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law, Hillel International, and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) announced a settlement with Pomona College to resolve claims that the College permitted severe discrimination and harassment of Jewish students in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. As part of the settlement, Pomona has agreed to adopt a comprehensive set of significant reforms designed to address anti-Semitism on campus, enhance protections from discrimination for Jewish and Israeli students, and align its policies and practices with Title VI and federal guidance.

Israel is the new state religion of the US. Lucky we do just have a constitution anymore.

The ADL was responsible for that. False fag operation.

Tuition, room and board, and costs are $91,134.00 for 2025-26 school year. Imagine paying that amount and your kid is in class when all of a sudden masked protestors storm a building and zip tie it shut? Imagine being a poor, first generation high school student who is excited to visit a college and is actually in that building they stormed?

This is an article from the student newspaper, "Following the speech, at 11:06 a.m., the assembly passed through the intersection and moved into Pomona’s Carnegie Building, disrupting classes. Those inside the building who were not participating in the protests — including some high school participants in the college’s Perspectives on Pomona program [program for first generation /marginalized populations /low income] — had to relocate...

Inside the building, some protestors had used red spray paint to write “F*** Pomona,” “Intifada,” “From the river to the sea” and “Free Palestine” on the walls and floors. Others destroyed AV equipment, printers, plaques and various materials, according to individuals who viewed the space the following day...

“In addition to damaging educational spaces, faculty members representing the academic disciplines housed in Carnegie Hall have lost access to their office spaces and teaching spaces,” they wrote. “Memorabilia of students past and present have been lost or destroyed. The physical damage is a great loss to our academic community.”

Fernando Lozano, chair of Pomona’s Economics Department, said that events like Monday’s are “antithetical to our most sacred values” and have no place at a liberal arts college.

“Anonymous protestors hidden behind the invisibility of a mask shatter our common humanity, and eradicate the empathy and trust we have built throughout many years,” he said in an email to TSL. “The protests on Monday had a chilling effect to those of us who work at Carnegie.”

Let all the above be stipulated as having been the case. Such acts, as described, do not fall under the purview of the ADL.

That poster may have misunderstood "foreign actors."

I support Pomona's response:

"The following day, we committed to a full investigation and pledged to pursue appropriate disciplinary action. The individuals believed to be responsible have since issued a communication filled with threatening, dehumanizing and antisemitic language. The sentiments expressed have no place in a community dedicated to teaching, learning, and respectful dialogue.

"Over the past two weeks, we have reviewed hours of event video and security footage in an effort to identify the individuals involved. We thank the many members of the 5C community who have submitted information. Your support has aided us in making tangible progress, and I want to take this opportunity to provide an update on where this investigation stands."

The ADL has no grounds to supersede such a response.

FFS. Blame the victims—that’s your response?

BTW, did you bother to actually read what the settlement entails? I don’t think you’ll find it particularly objectionable.
