Holton parents - you have got to help your girls out with these skirts.

But that's what the school is doing by requiring these tiny skirts and not even allowing the girls to wear pants. They have to wear the skirts in the winter even, with pants under. It's so bizarre.

They are required to wear skirts, not tiny skirts.

The baggy sweatpants with a skirt on top is stupid. I’m a fan of uniforms, but if they want to wear pants, they should wear chinos or khakis. What’s the point of a uniform if it’s not worn properly?

It seems to be an unwritten rule that to fit in your skirt needs to be super short. It has unfortunately gone on for years. Hard to believe the administration has not noticed this?!

I appreciate what she is trying to do with her short shorts and her long shirt and I understand the leg/.torso proportion that she’s going for, but I have tried to tell her so many times that I can see her butt. And her only response is why are you looking? Because.. it is right there. It shouldn’t be visible to me.

The past four years, she wasn’t like this,. In fact, she would make fun of girls wearing shorter shorts than she was. And then her shorts got shorter, and then she would make fun of girls wearing shorter shorts than she was, and so forth. Now I think she’s wearing just about the shortest you can wear.

I’m in sort of the same situation. I’ve pointed out that if the boys were walking around their butt cheeks or balls hanging out of their shorts, she’d be upset — but she’s not convinced by this argument.

Agreed. That looks awful, even looking at the pictures on the website.

Nobody is policing their bodies. But nobody wants to see their a$$ cheeks hanging out in your face when you’re sitting a coffee shop and they’re standing in front of you. Get a grip.

Yeah, nutcase, I’m not going to stop going to my neighborhood coffee shop because you refuse to address sending your kid to school, not the beach, school, and in public, in her swimwear and insist we are all being so crazy if we object to seeing their as$ cheeks. It’s actually illegal to go outside with your as& out. That’s the issue. The actual police may well be policing your ridiculous choices.

Where is it illegal???

“ In Maryland, you can be convicted of indecent exposure if you willfully and intentionally expose your private parts, in a public place, in the presence of others. “Private parts” are defined as genitals, buttocks, and female breasts. The “presence of others” means exposing yourself in a manner that is likely to be seen by a casual observer. As you can see, the Maryland does not require you to intend to alarm someone or for sexual gratification, the mere act of exposing yourself can lead to charges.”

That’s just one example; indecent exposure laws exist in many places, of course.

This means naked body parts. Not parts covered by underwear, or my guess is spandex “shorts.” OP did not say she saw bare skin.

You missed the update that one of them was wearing a thong with these skirts. That would pretty much result in a bare butt.

Regardless, I was responding to the pp who asked where it was illegal “to go outside with your as& out” (expand the quoted section if you haven’t followed this). The answer to that is, many places, and also specifically MD.

The MS girls make fun of the US girls and then eventually end up following suit. It's tough to parent a teen girl. It's hard to know which battles to pick. We're a conservative family in terms of dress, and I just don't know how to handle it.

Does this issue ever come up among parents? Why don’t you complain to admin and teachers? Or are there actually a number of moms who are pro skimpy belt skirt?

Yes, it's so bizarre. Why can't they just have an option for uniform pants? A lot of schools have that.

They do. Multiple options.

Of course they've noticed. Are you kidding?

I’m shocked they still advertise as an all girls school, since a few years ago there was a push at the school to remove all language of “girls” because it was exclusionary.

There may be some dads and school staff who are pro skimpy belt skirt.

She chose a different (co-ed) school where we see a variety of skirt and shorts lengths, as well as plenty of girls wearing sweatpants, joggers and jeans.

Wait, so the school rule is all young ladies must show their thighs daily until it snows? Who exactly is in charge of this rule and the uniform choice? Please don't tell me a man is Head of School or I'll vomit.

I think you're allowed to wear pants under the skirt. There's plenty of pictures showing HA girls wearing jeans and baggy sweatshirts under the skirt, which I think is just as bizarre as wearing a too short skirt.

Yes later in the year they start wearing the skirts as literal belts.

This is crazy. What is wrong in the School mandating an appropriate length skirt and as an alternative a pair of pants? If all the little misses wanted to roll their skirt waistbands up to wherever after school lets out, let them. HA posting a photo of students posing "officially" in their tiny skirts is bizarre.
