But didn’t you read MU’s email? We’re just going back to how it was pre-Covid!

What were the 4 phases he referred to?

I think the 4 groups that were on staggered recall. Managers (SOs, maybe 17 and above?), SK 15s, non manager NBU, then BU.

Ah! So this was the careful, long-term plan all along? Nothing to do with the election?

(Haven’t heard a THING from the union in awhile, so I guess they’re working hard.).

You must not be a member. I’ve heard plenty.

+1. Funny because the union literally e-mailed us yesterday! Love how these non dues paying people like to complain.

In the unlikely event PP is a dues paying member they should e-mail Greg their home e-mail address and also make sure their e-mail address is current in the NTEU system as there are two sets of e-mails that get sent out.

Well, emails from the union aren’t helpful. Still waiting for RESULTS! They’re apparently losing very badly, left and right. Years of giving dues, for nothing.

Great way to increase membership — ghost everyone who doesn’t pay dues during these times!?

You’d think they’d use this time to recruit! They always used to send at least occasional emails ti ALL BU members, whether they paid dues are not.

Unless that email announced that they won the arbitration and that the CBA and TW will be restored next week, I really couldn’t care less about their emails.

But enjoy the meaningless updates that you pay $60/month for.

Did you give any update on the grievance, timing, etc? And before you complain about me being a freeloader, I’m NBU, so have no choice in the matter.

She asked the company to move their headquarters by her old apt. but did not work out.

May shock you but established SEC people aren’t renters of one bedroom apts who can just move next month.

Why not? I got relocated and literally went on line for a search for cheapest studio apartments within walking distance my new location. Found one online put deposit down a week before starting to hold it. Showed up to work stayed in hotel first week, saw unit in person then signed lease. Was not a big deal. I took Amtrak DC then took Metro to Apt late on Sunday Night. Then My boss was nice enough to let me leave 11ish am on Fridays. I work a little late on M-T then show up do some work and leave right before lunch.

Pick up lunch Union Station and take 12 noon train home and eat on train, have a beer and catch up emails.

I did it 18 months. Was not hard to do or that expensive. May be hard to believe but even in 2025 you can get cheap studios for $1,500 a month. My Boss lived in Philly and he was on the five day thing got to come in around lunch on Mondays and leave early enough to catch the 10:28 am Acela. Coming to work he catch 10:00 Acela. His apt so close he could actually see his bed from his desk if he left curtain open. He just go to and from work in Jeans and sweats. Did his laundry during week.

He did it six years. His had a Stay at home wife.

People at higher levels just rent a place near the office.

Yes … the answer is to have an extra $1500 in your budget, a job that has the flexibility to let you leave early one day a week, and a stay at home spouse. Easy peasy.

Plus no desire to see said wife or any of your kids she might be raising.

You already get representation for free and benefit from their negotiated benefits. So yeah, if you also want the emails you need to pay dues.

As for PP who wants "results!" I am not sure what you expect. They are in the grievance process already, the new chair is not sworn yet, there are unprecedented things going on in government. You can run for union leadership if you would do better.

Like once Atkins arrives, is no one/no group of people going to try to get in front of him to be like let’s just recognize it was NOT like this pre Covid. There was 2 (3?) days wk telework. Certain regions and parts of CF were entirely telework. Not saying you can just put a Teams meeting on Paul’s calendar but the chair does meet w people across the commission on various work issues. Ppl will just go into those work meetings and kiss @$$ and say nothing? So he can be like gee everyone seems fine, morale is great. Maybe it’s just me but I’m not getting why everyone is soooo scared. Not saying one person speaking changes anything - in fact that person gets branded as lazy - but every person in every meeting ever w him, his chief of staff, his counsel - something could click.

WTF are you talking about?? He knows full well what’s going on. He knows what the TW posture was pre Covid, what the CBA requires, etc. He doesn’t need a random staff member to brief him on it.

Whether he’ll give a damn or have the courage to stand up to RV is another story.

Of course he knows but have you never worked with old white men before? Until it hits the over the head over and over and over, it doesn’t click. Unless they’re personally inconvenienced bc the rulemaking team they’re meeting w has a key person missing today bc oops they had to stay home for a drs appt or a window installer, it doesn’t click. But when am I saying SEC people are so spineless that when they’re before him it’ll be like oh gee it’s been ok, NBD.

Fair enough. I agree that people often grossly overestimate how much management knows (or cares), and that they often have their head in the sand with little awareness of morale, etc. Hence the 100 pct TONE DEAF emails and townhalls recently.

“Welcome Back.” Seriously???? That’s like a chemo doctor excitedly saying “welcome back!” as you limp into the lab for your 8th treatment…. (And then giving you his bio to you for the 8th time.). Zero empathy or awareness.

Actually you do have a choice. Membership is voluntary. Just because you are BU doesn’t mean you are a member. Maybe that’s where the disconnect is for you.

They said they were NBU.

But, if you are NBU that means your job is, at least in part, to further the positions of management vs. the BU. Considering, the tone of your posts makes a lot more sense.

That’s ridiculous to make that distinction. Almost everyone in the agency’s job is to further the positions of management. Are ENF folks taking the same positions on crypto they were six months ago?

And are you saying someone in HR, for example, should be scorned because they are implementing new management positions on RTO, for example?
