Are you 90? No one thinks or cares about "commies." |
| OMG, I totally agree with you. I am in my 40s. In my 20s, living in DC, working on Capitol Hill, I lived with roommates (at least 2, sometimes more) AND had a second job in the restaurant industry until I got married at 28. The 20 somethings in my office have wild expectations about what life should be like - living on their own in the city and eating expensive lunches everyday (I still bring my lunch and I make close to 7 figures). Certainly none of them have second jobs. They are all super smart and capable, but are missing this go-getter/saving mentality that was so much of who I was twenty years ago. |
| Funny how this thread is all about living within your own means and not expecting your parents to subsidize your lifestyle yet the other thread about people being subsidized by their parents is declaring it as the right thing to do. |
Oh, but you do. You got my last comment to you deleted. |
| One truly horrific roommate and you don’t share space again… |
Why are you paying for your kid's housing. He can work and go to school. |
Except for a large portion of most government who see the Chinese Communist Party as a major threat to world stability and peace. You might want to read a little before you dismiss communism. |
| People are more mean these days. |
Exactly. "Roommate" in my situation (my 20's, in college plus working 30+ hours a week) meant subsidizing someone else's phone bill(this was the 90's, when long distance calls were expensive) excessive electric/water use, food, household items like furniture and dishes, etc. Sorry, but I'd rather save money and live on my own. |
People absolutely do feel entitled my younger sibling makes like 30k a year and acts as if family should help her live a lifestyle that requires 60k minimum. She also has the ability to earn more and (and used to) but went into a low paying creative field because she couldn’t handle a normal office job |
