ED violation

Swatting has nothing to do with this situation -- it is not even close to analogous. In this particular case, it seems quite likely that this student is violating the terms of the ED agreement. No one is breaking into her home with guns drawn to confront her on it. Rather, the OP can simply let the college counseling staff and/or school principal know about the situation. On the very off chance that she is not violating anything, there will be no harm done.

It will take a forensic audit of that family's finances to prove or disprove the allegation. How about you go through that and tell us how painless it is?

DP. Huh? No, it won't. If the family can't afford because need was not met or new circumstances, they just withdraw. But, they would have known that in Dec, so holding onto that ED acceptance like an ace in the hole is a violation.

But, I would not contact the college. Just let the HS counselor, copied to resource teacher for counseling or head of counseling. Maybe drop in convo to principal or vp to make sure there is follow up.

Good choice. You’ll be written off as a snitch and everyone will hate your, but you won’t have ruined anyone’s life.
