How do we fix this??

Teach them to understand the source of the information. Always follow the money. Who is providing the information and why should you listen to them.

Y'all forget America is imploding and feeding on itself. You think this is not lost on GenZ ???

They can't afford housing. They can't afford food. They can't afford medical care. They can't afford college. They're forced to live in their mother's basement. Every single member of GenZ knows someone who has died from fentanyl overdose (unless they're living under a rock).

You think the disparity between the future they're facing vs. what was possible in their grandparent's generation is lost on them?

Who is kidding whom? Of course they don't want to vote. They're not stupid. They see the forest while y'all are lost looking at the trees.

These are also social media myths going around. Gen Z has the same opportunities that millennials, X, and yes, even Boomers had. This is all being fed into a funnel and there's literally no reality here. Their grandparents actually had it worse with regards to interest rates, inflation, but if I go online today I can find 100 Boomer bashing non facts ,particularly about money and affordability that are just inhaled.

You’re insane.

+100. I don’t know what the PP is smoking but Gen Z does not have the same opportunities as even the millennials…..housing is unaffordable, college is insanely expensive, healthcare costs go up every year, no one is taking climate change seriously and we are too busy sending billions to wars abroad instead of focusing on our problems at home.

I don't know what *you* are smoking, but all the young millennials and Gen Z I know are buying houses. They aren't big houses, is that it? They are townhouses, smaller SFH. They drive used cars, went to state schools and most have kids or planning to. They live within their means and many just had whatever school debt they had paid off by Biden. Some are continuing in grad school.

I graduated in 1979, biggest recession, gas was rationed, housing mortgage rates were 18% in 1981, I didn't see a low rate like everyone thinks until around 2012.
Here's a tip- you need to train for some career, college or other, work up to a salary, buy or rent within your means. Tik Tok and IG gives everyone money dysphoria- like you should have large kitchens in large houses, trips, clothes, big weddings, etc. You wont live in DC, Seattle, NY, or LA.
Your experience as a 22 year old graduate is literally the same as mine or better. My first salary? 9k. Teacher. Spouse? 17k , last salary-120k after 38 years. I retired after 35 years. Last salary in 2019- 90k . My 28 year old neighbor makes 2x that and has been working since 22, bought a house at 24.

How much was the house he/she bought at 24?

Oh, the neighbor- 325k

No help from parents? That’s actually abnormal for her generation!
- 41 year old whose mother has been entirely supported by me for 7 years, but she’s the best!

He codes. No graduate degree and has switched jobs several times because he wanted to.

He sounds atypical to me. I don't know any younger person who bought that young, they just cannot afford it. I guess it depends on where you are in the country.

My neighbors are all late 20s to late 30s. All owners, all functioning. Does that help? Maryland (DMV.)

You just don’t truly care about the youth vote. You are the problem: not the disaffected younger people you malign and blame. You ignore their economic reality and their view of Gaza at your peril. You cannot insult people and expect them to be enthused about how you see the world. This is basic, basic politics.

A bunch of spoiled brats throwing hissy fits.

You’re just a troll. You cannot be serious. You need to care about votes.

I’m done trying to appease whiners. Don’t like what you have, vote for someone else.

No way. I'm a boomer and I feel badly for the kids living in the woods because they can't afford housing. You don't see these kids because you don't want to. BTW, I worked my way through college. You can't do that anymore. You're living in la-la land if you think the average 20-something is out there buying a house.

Trump will probably send GenZ to defend Taiwan so their whining won't be much of a political issue soon.

+1

When Boomers were young, they didn’t all know someone in their extended social circle who had died of an overdose/fentanyl poisoning. That’s the reality of Gen Z.

I understand how it is confusing when we tell them their vote is their voice and then tell them not to withhold their vote as a way to protest.

I get it. The one year I lived in a swing state, I wasted my vote on Ralph Nader. It took some growth to realize that if I don’t vote for the dry whole wheat toast, it’s basically a vote for the arsenic sandwich. These are the options.

Ah, they won't have to worry about voting being their voice after Trump wins and can then solely focus on social media activism and protests.

No, we lost people to cancers and other diseases that are cured largely now. Then we lost a f- ton of people to AIDS.
Biden didn't give you Fentanyl. Look at the system, understand how pain pills were distributed whole sale for decades and how corporations got rich doing it, and which political party helps that.
Addiction is a disease, yes, but remember that kid who used snap chat to buy a pill , one pill, and maybe the only pill he ever took, used his own agency to do that. Why? Or the 34 year old lawyer- he decided to buy the oxycontin or whatever fully knowing the risk. So blame the internet, social media, lack of education in schools and everywhere about drugs, but if there wasn't a demand there would be no supply- regardless from where. This isn't your generation's lament. It didn't happen on its own.

Why can’t Gen Z see the big picture? Are you all just crazy not to see the wall we are about to hit if Trump gets in again? He’s a dictator and a criminal. How on earth can you all stay on the sidelines and say you aren’t going to vote in the upcoming election because of X, Y, or Z? How can you dare not vote and basically hand the presidential election to Trump, which is what he’s counting on…your apathy and confusion….because you actually think he’s a better candidate and forget everything else he stands for or has done to disrupt peace, including the insurrection?

Maybe, just maybe, the party should LISTEN to what it supporters want. There are issues that some of us really despise in our own parties. When do you have a real chance to get politicians to listen to the 10-20% issues that many party supporters don’t like?

This!!! Every election cycle the democrats claim its an existential election. "Support us for the greater good! Vote blue no matter who!" Then after they get elected they basically tell the progressive wing of the party to eff off. Not falling for it again, and no voting for Genocide Joe. Maybe next time you'll be willing to actually earn our votes, not just feel entitled to them while completely ignoring and disrespecting what we want policy wise.

What the f? Gaza is a genocide. 25,000 civilians killed and 2.3 million homeless facing death by starvation. Gen Z has it right Biden and the old folks home are wrong. This is a values thing. The Democratic Party will not go along with a genocide for a Jewish state.

If you don’t want Trump all you have to do is cut Israel off and a one state solution. I guess you would rather destroy US democracy vs stop the slaughter in Gaza. This is happens what Israel is more important vs the US.

I agree with you about Gaza but how do you think not voting and allowing Trump to win leads to a better outcome? This is where I get lost….you are going to hurt Palestinians more in the long run if you allow Trump to be elected.

How do you suggest Gen Z communicate their disapproval on Gaza while still voting for Trump?

Sorry— still voting for Biden.

So they can continue what they are doing, claiming some kind of mandate, ignoring us all the while? Yeah right. No wonder you all ran the country into the ground. You keep voting for these fools and they keep screwing you. The only way to get their attention is to threaten their hold on power. You want our votes? You stop the nonsense and start listening.
