Do conservatives want to ban transgenderism for the same reasons they want to ban abortion?

Puberty blockers are certainly more common and I agree with PP, let’s study it in a way where we get good data and try to make the best decisions based on real knowledge and not fear. But we won’t. We’ll just ban everything and not seek actual knowledge.

Look, I personally dislike religious whackos. I don’t care what religion. I think they’re all incredibly dangerous, especially for children. Does that mean we should ban religion? Of course not. Instead - hear me out here, stay with me- parents should make these decisions for their children and I stay out of those decisions that aren’t my children. I just don’t get who the hell any of you think you are to think you have any say in other peoples children. Especially since kids are getting blown to bits on a daily basis and your party has nothing but thoughts and prayers. Yeah that’s effective. Praying… yeah right.

So surgery is happening? I thought it wasn’t happening on minors. Which is it? I’m confused.

Happens to baby boys all the time.

This thread is discussing so-called gender affirmation and surgical procedures on minors. You are saying it happens all of the time. I thought it didn’t happen at all?

Cons are all up in arms because supposedly children are being maimed through surgery to their genitals and they want to ban that. Baby boys get maimed all the time in this country with surgery to their genitalia. Do you disagree with that?

These baby boys who are circumcised are not permanently sterilized, nor given non-functioning “organs” that will require medical intervention for the rest of their lives, nor turned into enuchs with zero capacity for sexual function as adults.

But you knew that, right? So stop with the ridiculous comparison

I guess you are unfamiliar with the movement by men who claim to have been harmed by their circumcisions. Or else you ignore them and think ythey are being overly dramatic. Which is true?

Do they believe they have magically turned into women?

Interestingly, my mom was telling me about a couple she is friends with. They had a baby that was intersex and they told them to pick a gender and they would do a surgery to make the genitals normal for that sex. So they did. Anyway this person is now "transgender" and no one has told the person-- the intersex baby-- that they likely really are the gender they identify as. That surgery in infancy likely caused lifelong issues.

And if they don’t believe that you think it’s acceptable to continue maiming baby boys?

Yes. They are uncomfortable with the idea of people experiencing freedom in their own bodies, and they think that they can simply legislate those people’s choices out of existence and it will eliminate—or, on average, reduce—people’s interest in attaining that freedom.

They are wrong across the board about it. And it’s reprehensible. But they are consistent.

First of all, I’d like to know why the Talmud lists 6 genders, but the Old Testament only has 2. A human made a choice to drop it from the Old Testament. I’d like to know when and why that happened if I’m supposed to accept that 2 genders is the Christian teaching.

Like many things, this may not be religious. They’re just using religion to manipulate people into accepting authoritarian-lite, as we march on toward authoritarianism.

There you go again with the obsession with fertility.

Forced teaming is a sneaky, conniving tactic that trans activists are using with great success.

It’s time to see through the manipulation.

There’s no “natural” link connecting the trans movement to the rights of women seeking abortions, racial minorities, or even lesbians and gays.

Cross-dressing males (and that’s who’s behind the trans movement) trying to bootstrap their unpopular desires onto legitimate rights movements can kick rocks. It’s parasitic, exploitative behavior.

NP. Fertility is more important than any transvestite’s desire.

This was the rallying cry when they banned gender affirming care in Indiana even though no transgender surgeries were being performed on minors in the state. That’s how you know legislators are lying about their motivations. They banned puberty blockers which some kids need & which reduce suicide and self-harm. But right-wing legislators only wanted to talk about nonexistent surgeries.

Surgery is non-existent? Interesting, I keep hearing about more and more individuals who had gender surgery as minors. Are these people all lying?

I don’t know what to tell you. The medical professionals in Indiana who testified swore up and down that gender surgery on minors just wasn’t happening in the state.

Someone is lying and I don’t think it was Franciscan Health.

your point is that gender surgery should only happen outside of Indiana?

I said that Indiana legislators pushed a bill banning all gender affirming care using rhetoric about needing to prevent transgender surgery for minors which wasn’t happening in Indiana. That’s how we know they’re being dishonest about their motives.

So the only way to not be a Nazi is to be in favor of performing sex changing surgeries on minors?

Apparently. If we don’t support them performing double mastectomies on 13 year old girls and destroying youths’ bone health with misused drugs then we’re racist and would have supported Hitler. Airtight argument.

Puberty blockers are not approved by the FDA to treat gender dysphoria, their impact on brain development is largely unknown, they can unleash a host of side effects — the extent of most are not fully understood, yet they’re doled out like candy to thousands of children. Regardless of one’s views of gender identity, this approach is flat out wrong.

You sound like the COVID anti-vaxxers who were full of shit too.

In any case, the people pushing the legislation in Indiana weren't talking about the FDA -- it was all fearmongering about child mutilation.

So puberty blockers and cross sex hormones are entirely safe for minors?

Not providing them isn’t entirely safe. Sometimes the risks of not treating gender dysmorphia are greater than the risks of puberty blockers. Let kids and their parents with the advice of physicians weigh those choices.

This is fascinating! Cite the part of the Talmud that discusses 6 genders.

Well, she did tell me this. I found it odd that they would be able to perform a surgery in the genitals and that would give them all the characteristics of one gender, given all the naturally produced hormones etc. But it's an interesting story.

So it is happening in other places across the US and they don’t want it to begin in Indiana? Seems like their motives are to prevent gender surgeries on minors in Indiana.
