What's upsetting for a lot of us (I might get flamed for this - probably will) is that LGB is getting lumped in with T, in this bill and generally. Gay rights and trans rights aren't the same. As the trans population (rightfully in my opinion) fight to be seen as human, any pushback and fallout from that is hitting the LGB community hard, and they're becoming collateral damage for lack of a better term. Kids who are gay are now being treated as trans almost, for all the policies overlap and overreach. Every conversation about gay kids in school turns into a conversation about trans kids in school. They simply aren't the same conversation.

"Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) last month proposed to the board a rule that would only allow discussions of sexual orientation and gender identity in fourth through 12th grade if it is in line with state curriculum or in a health class a student can choose not to participate in."

Are you dense? All this means is that the state will remove that topic from their curriculum and so it can never be discussed.

That's how the civilized world does education. Teaching is aligned with the curriculum, not with partisan propaganda.

NP. What do you see actually happening then? I have a kid in the Florida schools and I see only this as well. She sees nothing other than this, ever. We talk about these issues at home, so I'm clear about what's happening in her school.

I call BS on this. I have 3 hetero kids in various stages of school and they have not had any conversations with any teacher convincing them to transition or about being transgender or transitioning. Next you'll tell me all about the critical race theory classes your kids are in. I am paying very close attention to my children and the lies you and your people are filling the media with saying schools are doing this. Again, if you are afraid of public school because of the scarey gay and trans kids, homeschool your kids. If you are in Florida, why are you on a DC board?

I think the PP was saying they only see teachers calling kids by their chosen pronouns and not anything else. They are saying they don't see anything concerning in their kids schools.
