White middle aged man. Two weeks ago, I was pulled over on E-W Highway near the border of CC and SS for a broken light over my license plate. Officer told me the violation, then went to his car, and left me waiting for over 20 minutes (I timed it using my car's clock -- kept my hands on the steering wheel the entire time). When he finally came back, I got a repair order. Do I get a prize for behaving like a grown adult, treating the officer with respect and courtesy, and not escalating the incident? |
So you think when Black people get abused by police it us because THEY escalated the incident? That's called racial bias. https://www.washlaw.org/montgomery-county/ |
| Precisely why I avoid Wheaton Mall. If I HAVE to go I run in and right back out. Parking is horrible anyway. |
So what’s the excuse this time? He’s the victim of systemic racism which did not allow him to purchase a car, therefore he felt his only option was to steal one? So it’s all ok - we’ll just give him probation or something. I bet he’s committed to change. |
Feel free to share actual quotes of people in MoCo excusing carjackings |
Will he serve jail time? |
The house the guy tried to break into and was caught at is only three blocks from me. I was leaving home and saw multiple police cars racing up that street. This is the Kensington Hts. neighborhood of single family homes people on this list generally love for their moderate prices and community feel. I have lived here a long time and never felt unsafe in the neighborhood and while I avoided Target/Costco at the mall after dark I was perfectly fine with it in the daytime. I was joking with my daughter that I'll have to walk up there from now on so I won't get carjacked. But after reading this police news release I'm not sure I want to go there at all. https://www2.montgomerycountymd.gov/mcgportalapps/Press_Detail_Pol.aspx?Item_ID=43025 |
😳 This is terrifying. These people walk among us. |
Don't worry, MCPD has an officer stationed inside the Giant, so you are perfectly safe once you are inside the store
|
You know I am not an expert but I am guessing yes. Why do you think he wouldn't? Is it because you live in an imaginary world where MoCo has decriminalized carjacking and attempted murder? |
I was assaulted in MoCo (Bethesda, to be specific) and had internal bleeding, bruises all over my body, and a concussion. MoCo DA let the assaulter, who had MULTIPLE prior convictions and had even served jailtime before, off with community service. They said that my injuries were not serious enough to warrant jail time. |
Without knowing anything else about your situation that does sound horrible, but did you read what this guy did? It's a little worse than beating someone up. |
I think you are the one with a very creative imagination. Why was he even free to commit more crimes? His history shows he is a danger to the community. |
Are you suggesting we lock up anyone who commits a violent crime, for life? I mean I get where you are coming from, but that's just really different from how our legal system currently operates and has operated for some time. |
And here they said people were idiots for making the assertion that the purple line will spread crime all over MoCo. Case Study 101 of DC yet again exporting its crime to surrounding neighborhoods that just want to live in peace. Wait until criminals that DC let's off with zero punishment target all of the neighborhoods on the purple line because it is perceived that they have wealth. |
