Daughter double-pierced her own ears without my permission

So many crazy people here. My rule for second piercings is that I want my girls to wait until high school because they are still growing and I think they should wait until they are fully grown for proper placement.

Bingo! People saying to let it go are crazy. That's teaching her that your word -- and her respect for you -- are irrelevant. WTH?!

I love this. Why? Because I did it too. Multiple times. At exactly that age. At a friend's house and at camp. Trying to show my independence, autonomy and making my own choices. I had parents that were more traditional and had more rules than I needed and it led to these little (wonderful) acts of rebellion.

And guess what? My home piercings. Infected. I learned!

And in the end, I don't think my parents (or more specifially - mom) remembers. The purple streak in my hair may have left more of an impression.
