Less sugar than orange juice. Smart.

Who lets their one year old drink orange juice? Gross.

As if apple juice would be any better.

Awful. I had to report child abuse from my dental office from kids with bombed out teeth. Child neglect is no joke.

We’re here now. The town is far from quaint. We’ll be happy to not visit the town again. However, we’ve loved our mountain cabin and time in the Smokies. The kids have also had a blast at Dollywood, zip lining, doing mountain coasters, hillbilly mini golf, and go karts.

We actually just got back from this area last week. We stayed in Sevierville but visited Dollywood with our kids. We live in Charleston so we are accustomed to the south and more overweight people but we both commented on how obese the people were…..especially the kids. It really is sad. At Dollywood nearly everyone had the bottomless soda cups, and lotsssss of people riding scooters around. Reminiscent of WallE. It was a bit more in your face Christian than we were expecting. Everything from menus to free bibles at the bbq place to road signs- tons of religious incorporation.
That being said we would take the kids back to Dollywood. They had a great time. In charleston on our street we have a good mix of political affiliations. I like it better that way- trying to understand other people than just assuming everyone is the same (my liberal family in DC)

The most important consideration besides having good family fun is safety. A family can enjoy walking around Dollywood and the surrounding area without fear of being mugged, knifed, or otherwise harmed.

I would be afraid walking around anywhere with Trump signs or confederate flags. I think those people are loose cannons and I would feel uncomfortable and afraid. And I'm white.

Please feel free to post the most recent stabbing, shooting, mugging etc at Dollywood or other tourist attraction in East Tennessee.

Yes it is a very family friendly town if that is your thing. The kids always seem to have a great time. Glad they enjoyed it.

The south is full of morbidly obese people. I lived in Columbus, MS for a while and it was astonishing how many young kids were already obese - talking kids 3, 4, 5 years old. Same for Louisiana where DH has relatives. They’re younger and in shape but their neighbors - many of them well educated and successful professionals are really overweight and so are their kids.

You sound lovely and so non-judgmental. How do you do it?

The sad thing is their kids have no choice. Nobody is showing them a healthy diet.

They all will die an early death, diabetic syndrome, high blood pressure and not being mobile.

And don't get me started on the fat acceptance movement. That is surely an early death. They have no clue because they're young and dumb.

Don't forget drinking, smoking, driving too fast, sitting on the sofa watching TV, using drugs, etc.

Don’t forget teflon, forever chemicals, environmental carcinogens, etc.

I know marathon runners and super fit folks who eat clean and do all the right things who developed cancer in their 30s or dropped dead of a heart attack in their 40s. On paper, nobody would have predicted their health misfortune.

Plus, all American foods are heavily processed…and then we cook them in cookware lined with forever chemicals.

Thanks chemical lobby and gutted EPA. Also $ in politics, which is actually the root of the problem.
