My dad’s cleaning lady is obese and a Trump supporter. You would probably think she’s a dumb, fat loser. But when my dad was sick with cancer she visited and brought him food and went and sat with him for some of his chemo treatments when I couldn’t be there. My daughter is going to college and she just brought her a gift basket of things for her dorm room. She is one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. So maybe you can stop looking down on people you think you are superior to.

+1 why are you taking inventories of other people’s bodies?

Poverty and obesity are highly correlated. McDonalds is cheap. Sugar is a great dopamine hit when you are under tremendous stress. Corn syrup and seed oils are highly fattening and also highly subsidized. Poor people have multiple jobs just to get by and cheap processed food is both cheap and quickly prepared.

Gym memberships are expensive and intentional exercise takes time and space not often available.

Empathy is free and abundantly available for those who choose it rather than scorn and derision.

Somewhat related to the topic but I didn't realize how large the people in this country have become until the other day. My son needed a quick pair of pants so we ran to Walmart. My son is tall and lean and he wears a medium. Finding a medium was akin to searching for a unicorn. However, XL-3XL were a plenty.
