Yeah lets setup a "Rooney Rule" for school admissions.

DP. Rooney-type rules are and will be taking shape in a variety of industries. Good.

Too late, probably.

It'll be reversed, I woud imagine.

And if that happens the Supreme Court will reverse it again I expect

And if so appealed to the Supreme Court and the 4th Circuit would be overturned.

I really don't think the Fourth Circuit will have any trouble reversing this. If that happens and the Supreme Court takes the case, it'll be three years from now.

System A: Students take a test to get into a school. The top 550 students get in. There is no consideration for geographic diversity. There is no consideration for SES diversity. Test prepping is rampant, and reserved for those that can afford it.

System B: Students take a test. Prior to the test, the school makes a decision on what scores are likely to result in "successful" students. Everyone who scores in that range is put into a pool. 750 students make the cut. The student population is then selected with various factors in mind, including geographic and SES diversity. Students that are ranked from 450-550 are left out.

Maybe putting it another way. Are students 450-550 "owed" admission? Is it something that is being stolen from them and simply given to someone else?

They aren't owed admission but, just like any citizen in post-Jim Crow America, they are owed an admissions system that isn't designed with the specific aim of racial exclusion and ethnic cleansing.

Deep breaths, folks. I read the decision, and I have to say that I found the evidence of discriminatory intent to be unconvincing. What I perceive is FCPS acting in good faith. The Fourth Circuit is a solidly liberal court.

Can this be used as ammo for class-action lawsuits to make racist scum like Scott Brabrand homeless?

You are entitled to your opinion.

And the Supreme Court is not. You seem not to appreciate that the Coalition for TJ is playing long ball, and not just thinking about short-term political wins like the School Board.

Not to mention that anyone could read the decision and not appreciate that the School Board’s decisions were politically motivated, unprincipled, and driven by a naked desire to favor some students at the expense of Asian kids. Kudos to the judge for looking behind the smoke screen that FCPS tried to manufacture to obfuscate its true intent.

Assuming there isn't a settlement, putting eggs in the Supreme Court basket is a stretch.

Let’s do it. Also put those racists behind bars. Without that, there is zero cost to be racist these days.

I read the decision too and it seemed clear that there was an intention to act on the basis of race.

Brabrand in his own words said that he was motivated by Floyd.
