This I don't understand. These aren't contracted players. There's no incentive to go to another club like VDA unless the player/parents think they will win and compete against the nation's best. It's about 75% VSA/PWSI player on every team, 5 to 7 is laughably low and not even close. The U16 team, which is one of the best on east coast, is 15 out of 20 girls from VSA/PWSI, which include the mid-Atlantic player of the year (VSA origins). When other teams complain about losing good players, ask 'why' are they leaving? You get one shot at this ride to college, if that's your goal, and if girls elsewhere want to drive an hour to practice, it must be THAT good. There is literally no other reason to go to a club unless you think it's going to help and if VDA is that place, then best of luck to them. Why complain other than jealous reaction.

You can befriend the coach and politic all you want. Either your kid performs or gets replaced.

Not true everywhere though.....our team manager sucks up to the coach big-time, and it's certainly translated into benefits for his daughter (more playing time, other opportunities, etc.).

A team manager means you’re still in u-little soccer. That’s when parent politics are the worst. It becomes more about performance as they get older and politics become less relevant.

Read that agin. Four years ago. That means that the current 04/03 team were rising 8th and 9th graders at the time.

They will not even come close to accomplishing that because of the amount of competition in NOVA. There are no other competing ECNL or GA clubs in Richmond.

😂- Not Long ago Richmond was considered one of the weaker clubs in ECNL. Back when courage was CASL and Bethesda was somebody. So maybe I’m dating myself.

VDA has less external pressure then every other NOVA club.

😂- Not Long ago Richmond was considered one of the weaker clubs in ECNL. Back when courage was CASL and Bethesda was somebody. So maybe I’m dating myself.

VDA has less external pressure then every other NOVA club.

You're definitely dating yourself old timer. Your point is valid though, VDA has a geographical advantage over the clubs you mention, but nothing like Richmond enjoys. It has always surprised me that Christian didn't move FCV (pre-STJ) down that way to take advantage of more opportunities for space. Still could I suppose. Enjoy it while it lasts... because nothing lasts in youth soccer.
