Moms, What Do You Give Teachers at Christmas?

With Christmas coming up, I’d love to hear your thoughts! 🎄✨

When it comes to teachers we really appreciate—the ones who go above and beyond for our kids—what kind of gifts do you like to give them at Christmas?

I’m curious what has felt meaningful both to you and to the teachers. Any favorite ideas or traditions you’d recommend?

Cash. Not gift cards, cash. Plus a nice note from my child

Nice note, if they are exceptional I send an email to admin. Sometimes I give gift cards (usually regifted from my own students 😆)

Usually a book for their classroom library (my kid likes to pick this out, choosing something they love but the teacher doesn't have) plus a gift card to either Amazon or Target.

For an exceptional teacher, I write an email of appreciation, with specific reasons why, thanking them and copying the Principal

Nothing. In elementary school I contributed and gave whatever amount the pta parent requested, if they did. That’s it.

I’m a teacher and don’t expect anything myself. I appreciate the thought but would prefer no actual gifts. Just a card or email would be the best!

Another teacher here, and I agree.

I don’t expect anything. I would also prefer no actual gifts; I’m doing the job I am paid to do, so I feel awkward accepting gifts.

I love cards, though. I keep them and read them again on rough days.

$25 Target gift card & nice note from child

Gift card between $200-$300 (not labeled so they don’t get in trouble) a card my kid helps write and a small meaningful physical gift if that’s something that makes sense — one year we got a book she and I had been discussing signed by the author, for example. I email the principal.

Generic teachers $20 card to Target and a card my kid helps with.

At our public school teachers are not allowed to accept such a large gift. They'd have to turn it over to the school. Families are capped at giving no more than $100 per teacher per school year.
