She has done it her entire career except on TTPD, where she was obvious and didn’t give a damn.

I know Ruin The Friendship is allegedly about a HS crush who died, I just don’t buy that she is reminiscing about him 15+ years after his funeral and 20 years after she didn’t kiss him at a dance. At the end she sings “And my advice is always answer the question, better that than to ask it all your life.” It relates directly to her song Question ? on Midnights, which is supposed to be for Matty. Also repeating “Should’ve kissed you anyway” multiple times sounds just like “She has a boyfriend anyway.” That, plus the music similarities.

+1. The song is not about a boy in high school, or at least not just about that. Jeff Lang didn’t have a brother, and in the first verse Taylor sings, “Watching the game from your brother’s Jeep.”

I don’t understand why people expect Taylor to take absolutely no liberty with her story telling. I don’t think we hold any other artists to this kind of standard. Have you ever seen any movie based on a true story?

It can be loosely based on events. I don’t why we think every word of the song has to be true. She is capturing a feeling of loss and regret about a high school crush. It’s possible that 50 Cent never played at the prom. Gasp. Heck, it’s possible that she and the Jeff were never even at prom together. She is just telling a story and using elements people will recognize. A high school football game, a musician that was popular during her high school years, a dance that most people associate with high school .

It is quite possible we will find out that Jeff and she in fact did not have second period together. And that’s OK. Maybe it was a friend’s jeep, but it doesn’t sound quite as good in the song. It doesn’t all have to be factually correct, it is art.

I've noticed in this thread that people attack anyone with a slightly critical opinion, use the term "actually romantic," or label people a "hater."

This is a tactic that TS has taught them because she blames others for her own issues. Everything is the fault of the patriarchy, Scooter Braun, Katy Perry, Jack Antonoff, Joe Alwyn, Charlie XCX, etc.

Not sure why there is a problem with a musician promoting her album. Feel like pretty much every other musician does this? Taylor has not had to do it as much in the past because of who she is, but I don’t find it that abnormal that she’s engaging with fans more during this phase, doing talk shows, etc., when she has a new album coming out. It’s a little weird to criticize her for that.
