Any other game details? This one shocks me. I thought Madison was an easy cover at the -2 spread. Not necessarily a blow-out just thought it would be a similar score to the Oakton versus Centreville game.

West Potomac is still my sleeper team (not getting much attention) and expect them to beat both Woodson and West Springfield next week.

Agree on West Potomac. They should not be counted out! Very strong team all the way around.

Top 4 teams from each district tournament go on to regionals. Top 2 teams from the regional tournaments go on to the state tournament. The regions are very lopsided. So several teams in fairfax county will be knocked out that theoretically are better than 3 of the 4 teams in the state quarter final round.

And is that just a number you are throwing out or is there actually any reasoning? Also I think as the season progresses any young player will progress and step up if they are getting good playing time. So most teams are seeing same results with their squads.

Oakton is definitely on top but I wouldn’t pencil either team in yet.

Agree. If it’s a Battlefield vs Oakton state final, I predict a running clock against Battlefield before the end of the first half.

Already predicting state final scores and who the teams are is bold. And just stupid. There is over a month to prepare for that game.. teams will put up a fight in regional. Just silly to assume it’ll be Oakton. But not surprised, based on the way they talk about themselves on here.

Isn’t that what happened to Battlefield last year against Yorktown?

It’s unfortunate that the Regions are so lopsided that Battlefield has an easy path to the state finals annually. Organizers need to mix up which Regions play which Regions for the state title. The logistics and travel times most likely prevent this from happening. So like years in the past the real State Champion match is the state semi-final with the dominant northern regions.

Agreed. The past few years show that teams who lose to a specific team during the regular season come out stronger in districts and regionals and then beat that team. Robinson Madison and even Centreville will not let Oakton through without a fight.

VHSL Baseball is different. It should be this way for all sports.

The top of the bracket is the home team. If If a runner-up is in the top bracket position vs. a region champion, the region champion is the home team. The home team will wear dark uniforms and the visitor wear white uniforms

For quarterfinals: A vs. B and C vs. D. Cross bracketing for semifinals: A vs. C and B vs. D
