It’s pop music. Your first mistake is thinking any of it’s actually deep. So, yes, you are extremely young and naive. |
I don’t understand the whole her daddy bought her career for $500,000-$1 million. Many upper middle class parents could do that, if they thought the return on investment would be another Taylor Swift. Yes, most child stars have parents who are invested in their success and can afford to do things like have one parent quit work and be the manager and supervise the kids on set and also pay for expenses like coaching or training and things like headshots and travel expenses in the early years. That’s not unique to Taylor. It’s just that millions and millions of people try this every decade and very few get anything out of it. Very few young people are willing to spend hours and hours a day learning different instruments and writing songs and perfecting that craft like she did and does. It’s way less than one in a million and there will be many who sadly put in the hard work but don’t have the talent. Crediting her parents $500,000 for launching Taylor’s multi billion dollar career is odd. |
Pop music absolutely can be “deep”. 99 red balloons, slide by the googoo dolls is about abortion, pumped up kicks by the band of the same name, blackbird by the beetles is about black freedom, Yellow taxi “pave paradise and put up a parking lot.’ These, I name in about 30 seconds. Just because Taylor’s pop music isn’t that deep, doesn’t mean all pop music isn’t deep. |
Just because it’s about a heavy topic doesn’t make the message especially profound or meaningful. |
I love your ad hominem attack. It's cute. I might write a song about it. I could call it "Straw Man" or "Red Herring." I'll put it on my The Life of an Ex-Fan Dealing with Narcissists album. Coming in 2026 with 47 variations! |
Scott Swift is the one who laid it all out in his letter. I am just the one who paraphrased his own words. He also talks about his body parts and how his private ones do not work well. You can google the letter and read it for yourself. |
DP I've read the letter. They clearly put tremendous effort into their daughter. That did not guarantee the result they get. She had privilege, for sure, but it would all be down the drain if she didn't connect with the audience. It's not something that anyone could duplicate if they followed all the same steps. It's the same way families mortgage their home to pay for their kids to have the best figure skating coaches. That does not mean they go to the Olympics or have any type of notable career. |
Applies to the haters as well, the ones who used to be fans. They obsessed over every detail, now they don't like her anymore for whatever reason, but they can't just give up because they spent so much time and know so many details. Instead of giving up the obsession, they spend so much time going around the internet trying to convert others and convince them how much she sucks, and how they are sheeple for liking her. I'm just a casual fan. I like some songs and not others. I listen to the ones I like, watch her performances, don't follow her relationships, and don't care about her politics. I can admit there are many areas where she could improve, but think she generally works really hard and does the best with what she's got (eg, creates a great stage show despite not being a great singer or natural dancer). |
Yea duh. Everyone knows that. Why is it on this album with musical references to 1975 songs? Art has multiple meanings. I dont actually think she is talking anout mh here, but that is one theoey out there - that one layer/meaning of this song is after it all she doesnt regret going for it because she answered the question (remember her song question is about mh). |
No one hates KM. Some people just don’t think she is an infallible deity and that enrages the royalists. Weird. I didn’t pay attention to TS until kind of recently. I was totally neutral. The more I learn about her, the more I like her. And her mother. And I think she - and they- have been so good for generations of girls. Her imperfections are charming because she’s being herself. Writing her own music and controlling her career. She wasn’t created in a studio. I love that she models kindness AND standing up for yourself. |
Just write about your hurt feelings. Would be completely unoriginal like most pop music. |

I am a TS fan and a Kate Middleton fan. No hate here. |
Beats writing about Travis’ wood as far as I’m concerned. |
ANYTHING, please. No more travis songs! |
