Kim's house is definitely sad beige to me. I would like to have a more minimal look but hers is sad and sterile like no one actually lives there. |
I think Meghan's set was styled to be more farmhouse than sad beige. |
Dont even try for minimalism now, unless you really want to commit to the scandinavian look. It's just so incredibly dated. |
Please give detailed examples of how to “update” and “freshen” the aesthetic of the show. I would love to hear what is considered updated. The show to me reads as blandly pleasant. It’s the entire curated concept of a lifestyle show that seems dated more so than the details like clothing. |
Seriously. I don't understand how straight cut jeans and a button down are "dated." She just dresses like a normal rich mom, which she is. It's millennial because millennials are moms now. |
LOL. That's because you are a millennial! Dont you get that? In the same way a boomer isnt going to understand how their look is dated either. There are plenty of hip looking rich moms, not everyone is wearing what was en vogue in 2015. |
I do think there's something to be said for mental illness in the pushback of this show. Not for the Meghan fans because there don't see to be any. Most positive reviews I've seen have just been "Oh, I thought it was bland but nice" or "I thought it was fluffy and good background noise." But the negative reviews are something else. Like, in this conversation thread. Accusing someone who likes Meghan of being poor and fat is crazy. I guess the opposite of that is Meghan fans accusing anyone who hates her of being racist but I haven't seen that in this thread. |
Right but there are some things that are just timeless. Jeans and a button down are something that people have been wearing for forever, it's the cut of the jeans and the shirt that indicate what era it is. |
Yes, I do get that for some people's style but Meghan's doesn't particularly read dated to me. Some other millennials' style does. I agree with the other poster, please give detailed examples of how to update and freshen the aesthetic of the show. |
I think she'd really have to change the entire vibe- the "perfect instagram" look is now extremely out of date and cringe, which is why most GenZs prefer a somewhat chaotic looking photo dump. More color would be great, not filming in all white, beige kitchens. Not doing cutesy "twee" crafts like sticking stuff in mason jars or wicker baskets. If she was to experiment with more color, more boldness, more "out there" vibes then that would fit the zeitgeist a lot more. ATM, it's giving Chip and Joanna Gaines Modern Farmhouse 2016. |
Agree to disagree. She is for sure a millennial aesthetically but I don't think it's that bad. |
I don't think the show is aimed at Gen Z, is it? It seems to me that the show is aimed at other moms, who are primarily millennials at this point. |
Yeah but that's what I'm trying to explain! You're a self admitted millennial and cant see the forest for the trees, lol. I did give some examples to the other poster but tbh it's not really my job to explain to middle-aged moms who think white skinny jeans and a chambray button down is totally chic about current fashion trends, lmao. You can always look up Vogue articles, use ChatGTP, or even open a dedicated thread here on DCUM if you truly want advice on updating your wardrobe (although this board skews Gen X so you might not get much help). Good luck! |
I'm not quite sure who it's aimed at. But I do agree that likely Gen Z or younger people wont be interested and would find the aesthetic to be incredibly dated. In fact, that's the entire point! |
Um, okay. Calm down, Gladys. I think they were just agreeing with the other poster. No one was suggesting it was your "job." |
