Same. I wish I could pull off her style. |
Yep. Choosing not to engage further which will likely encourage them to continue crashing out but whatever. |
Well, no, because she's not Black. She's considered/identifies as biracial. |
+1 That would explain why so many Meghan defenders just kind of hang out here for hours on end. |
1000%. Her style is VERRRRRYYYYY dated millennial. It feels like a blast from the past. |
I think it's interesting that the people who make this argument almost act like being biracial doesn't exist. I mean say what you want about Meghan, I don't care, but claiming she's white when she was raised by a Black mother is off-base. (And, I don't actually believe it's done in good faith but that's neither here nor there.) |
No one is claiming she's white? Just saying that she's not Black? |
. I was not aware of the "sad beige" thing. Would Kim Kardashian's off-white house and furniture be an example of this? I think she's elder millenial. |
Yes it would! It's a lot more avant garde than what Meghan does, which seems particularly stuck in the kind "millennial twee" vibes of 2012 pr so, but it would still qualify. You can look up "sad beige moms" to see more. |
I don't personally think her style is dated. It reads more quiet luxury than sad beige. With that being said, as a fellow millennial, I can appreciate Meghan sticking to her style rather than changing. As you get older you kind of learn what works for you and gain confidence to avoid overhauling your style every time trends change. She's in ankle jeans and a button down, it's not like she's in a J. Crew bubble necklace or something extremely dated. I also do think this is one of those areas where she would never win and if she tried something excessively trendy she'd be made fun of for trying too hard. |
DP there were posters a few pages ago saying she was white. If you look at the entire conversation thread you are replying to, someone literally referred to her as a "white actress" lol. |
I was literally replying to a conversation in which someone had referred to her as white. |
It is very dated though, and you being a millennial may blind you to that fact since it's a style you still enjoy. In the way that plenty of boomers will still walk around thinking their outfits from the 80s or 90s are really cool, when it dates them and gives away their "era". Nothing wrong with having a personal style. But you can still update things, keep them fresh, and move with the times- or hire people to style you if you cant figure it out yourself. ESPECIALLY if youre going to position yourself as some kind of leader in the aspirational lifestyle industry. Most people dont want to be walking around wearing a style that is a good decade or so passe. |
They actually said people thought she was white. Reading is fundamental. |
No they didn't, lol? Why do you guys make stuff up? |
