| ....among teen girls today? Mine is 16 and just doesn't want or see the need to. I think this may partially contribute to not wanting to wear skirts or dresses anymore, too? If that's just because she doesn't like dresses and skirts, or even shorts, anymore, fine; but if it's because of embarrassment about hairy legs, I'd like to know why/how to help address it. |
| Not widespread, but more common than it was in our day. My 16 year old just started a few weeks ago, but is pretty lazy/haphazard about it. Have you asked her if she wants any particular product or anything? I just gave my DD all the supplies she might need and told her where it was in her bathroom and to ask for help if she needed it. I didn’t want to force it, even though it privately drove me crazy. She eventually decided for herself. |
| Legs are ok. Underarms can smell really bad. |
| It's no longer UNcommon. Goes with the whole non-binary/fluid gender thing. My DD goes for weeks without shaving until even she can't take it anymore. Rinse, repeat. |
| My 14 yo old shaves intermittently, but not nearly as frequently as I did. |
| My 14 year old daughter doesn't need to just yet - nothing is visible. My son was 19 when he decided to shave a very wispy, barely there, moustache... so I guess we're late bloomers. |
| It common. Shave when you feel like it, or not. It's not a "must-do" part of a shower routine like in the old days |
| This sounds so great. I hate shaving. |
Free yourself! |
| Do the popular girls tend to shave more? |
+1 |
I’m not a fan of hairy armpits on women, but men don’t shave their armpits and they don’t smell. I mean some do of course, but many don’t. |
WTF? Has nothing to do with the hair. |
This is the same for my DD’s friends group. |
| My 17 yr old dd has never shaved. She wears shorts tanks etc. her hair isn’t dark, but still noticeable. She doesn’t care. She embraces all things natural right now. She’s figuring out a Diva cup too. |
