Nothing is final yet. Talk to your reps. They are not sure if they can do all-star relays because of deck spacing. The NVSL board thought if we can’t do All-Star relays they would also cancel divisional relays. People need to speak up. The small board is deciding all these things without the division coordinators talking to their team reps. At minimum, it should be decided division by division of you have a host pool that is big enough and willing to host divisional relays.

Coordinators are asking their team reps right now for their input before voting on masking.

Yes, outdoor transmission is low. Outdoor transmission on pool decks 6 inches from each other is not what those studies are based upon. Close contact but outdoors is still close contact.

Close contact has to be for a prolonged time with the same person. Adults on deck are not next to swimmers for more than 15 minutes. And if you reject this, than don’t participate. Or you and your child can wear a mask.

And when the NVSL requires masks on deck you feel free to do the same.

Your DC has an incorrect understanding.it was never said in any discussion that divisional relays would be canceled if All-Star Relays were canceled.

Why can’t people choose if they want masks or not? I see plenty of people still wearing them. So if you want to wear them or want your kids to wear them, fine. If you don’t, that’s fine too and actually in line with latest state guidance where it’s NOT required.

Regardless of vote, can it also be a mutual decision between reps when exchanging meet sheets on Thursday? Come to an agreement about not requiring them or leaving it up to parents or what not.

I agree with letting people choose for themselves whether to wear masks. Or people can choose not to participate. Requiring masks outdoors is asinine
and anti-science and honestly, cruel to the kids. Our B meets have gone for six hours at small pools in 90 heat.

You are entirely missing the point that masks are not required at practice or B meets or anywhere else so it does no good to require them on Sat mornings also. They kids are already in close contact with each other all week

Our pool was wonderful today. No distancing, no masks. Socializing!!

It will be hard to get people to wear masks for meets when they aren’t wearing them to swim and socialize for fun.
