Harvard Law lost some of its prestige when I found out Kayleigh McEnany and a few others went there. I’m all for diverse opinions but am seriously questioning their standards. |
I knew a kid in HS who did things so she can say she did. Very robotic. She did graduate from a HYP and went on to a med school. To my surprise, she dropped out of med school and now in her late middle age has or had a run-of-the-mill small business. I was shocked. Ambition without heart can only get you so far. |
| What are chances of transfer to HYP (kid really interested in Y or P after visits to high school so likely won't apply to H). At a top top SLAC now for first year (well at meaning at home). Any better coming from a top SLAC? I know usually it is 1%. But thinking with Class of 2024 deferrals, they will need more 2024s. |

Coming from a Big 3 with that GPA, your D has a ~5-10% shot at HYP. If I were you, I would encourage her to revisit other schools in the top 10. Chances are great that she will get into 1-2 in that tier.

Totally disagree on your % guess. I think it is higher. I posted earlier about my helping students get into top schools. |
I think it’s based on the ivy retention rate. If H retains 98%, that means they have space for 2%. Ivies do well even during pandemics. I don’t see people turning down or dropping out of ivies bc of the virus. |
I think kid should focus on staying put and doing well. If you are top 1 percent at a top SLAC, there's no point in transferring. Heck, if medical/law/grad school are the end goal, it's probably better to be at a top SLAC and top 1% than to transfer, adjust, and most likely lose that top 1% standing at HYP. |
Maybe she's happy with her choices? Perhaps she had a family to care for? A lot of people who go to HYP stop working anyway or mommy track when they have kids. |
Top 10% at HYP is preferable to top 1% top SLAC. |
True. Maybe she learned a little too late after all the tuition that ivies aren’t all that. Her business is blue collar work that doesn’t or didn’t involve ivy education. |
| She possesses the education. The education does not suddenly disappear if a graduate works a blue collar job |
why are you still stalking her? Were you always jealous of her? I think it's sad you still need to call some 16 year old kid "robotic" and call her business "run-of-the-mill" and suggest she has "ambition without heart." That's cruel. She's probably very happy doing what she's doing and raising a family and doesn't regret her ivy education. Schooling isn't all about finding things to put on your LinkedIn. |
You sound like a nasty, petty person, honestly. Let go of your high school trauma already. |
| P.P.. I agree. This poster sounds sadly crazy to rejoice over someone else's failures. |
