Right on cue - thanks for proving how ridiculous you are!

Saw some of it last night in this thread but there are other examples as well:

https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/877213.page

It's not that people are posting different ideas, it's that the usually give and take of forum messages are a few one way a few the other: this seemed to be more organized 'dog piling'.

Been seeing it more frequently recently in a number of threads

Anyway, not sure how you would manage that. Just thought I'd mention the observation.

I don’t think there are Russians here, but trolling techniques are universal and used by conservative disinformation campaigns too.

Anyway, Putin’s troll farm often would work in groups, where two or more trolls would reply to each other’s posts, and pile on those they disagreed with.

That’s an effective way to derail real discussion.

The MAGAs on DCUM often do seem to work in pairs. One posts something about Biden. The second poster quickly plus-ones and adds a few words like "that's hilarious" and some inane emojis like

Right, and liberals *NEVER* do that about Trump. Ever, ever, ever.
Do you have any inkling just how ridiculous you sound?

Silly whataboutisms out of nowhere from conservatives?? Why, I have never heard of such a thing before!

There are one or two Trump supporters for whom that is their primary contribution. I don't think they are coordinating with anyone, but they seem to spend all day on DCUM giving "+1" to MAGA posts and thanking MAGA posters. They often do this even when the post in question is objectively and obviously wrong.

Not that anyone can see inside another person's mind - but what are they getting out of doing that? I know why I spend all day on DCUM - I work at a computer, am easily distracted, and am obsessed with politics.

Are those MAGA folks in the same position, do you think - just, people with computer jobs who are doing their procrastinating here? Or is it something else, if you had to guess?

Frankly, I am baffled by their behavior. I get the feeling that they are at home. Either work at home, retired, SAHM, or whatever. I think they see their participation on DCUM as their effort to combat liberals and stand up for motherhood, apple pie, and the American way. I can imagine them envisioning a future in which their grandkids ask them what then did during the war against liberalism and they reply that they and a small band of rebels fought a horde of DCUM liberals to a standstill by constantly standing up for all that was right and true.

I do love that image!

The President has even recognized their heroic efforts:

Maybe lock threads that haven’t had new content for days/weeks, but just provide a platform for Con toddlers to post “Creepy, sleepy Joe!” followed by the inevitable plus one? The Reade/Biden thread is there.

Amazing that "two" of us were actually online and reading this forum at the same time! I mean, that has NEVER happened when Democrats post. NEVER, I tell you!

How about locking threads in which the OP (or others) are constantly sock puppeting? The "Trump's accusers" thread comes to mind.

Organized sock puppetry...sounds like that might a good category for Olympics these days.

I can understand why you’d want that one locked....

Because the OP is obsessive and keeps sock puppeting her posts in order to move the thread up? You got me.

OP of that thread here, hi!

No, that’s not me bumping it.

You’re probably just upset that I feature a different Trump victim every day—which does, I’ll admit, have the effect of bringing the thread up to the top of the forum—and that’s going to take us three weeks.

PS. I should clarify that if someone posts something, especially something ridiculous and wrong, I may respond.

I actually find it kind of funny that you are so obsessed with this thread that you eagerly post a new accuser every day - including multiple posts with huge blocks of quoted material that in any other context would be deleted immediately. And then you whine in other threads that no one is interested in your thread and everyone’s ignoring you. All in a lame attempt to try and attract people back to your boring thread.

You’re ridiculous. I have never, ever whined in another thread that people are ignoring my thread. If I had to guess, your problem is that you’re hammering away on the Reade thread and somebody is pointing out that you’re a total hypocrite for ignoring Trump’s victims. I know I’m right.

I went with the victim-a-day format because Trump just has so darn many victims that rational discussion would be impossible if we didn’t take them one by one.

Obviously I hit a nerve! Sorry not sorry. Your guy is a sexual predator and I’m glad to help remind everyone.
