There are one or two Trump supporters for whom that is their primary contribution. I don't think they are coordinating with anyone, but they seem to spend all day on DCUM giving "+1" to MAGA posts and thanking MAGA posters. They often do this even when the post in question is objectively and obviously wrong.

Not that anyone can see inside another person's mind - but what are they getting out of doing that? I know why I spend all day on DCUM - I work at a computer, am easily distracted, and am obsessed with politics.

Are those MAGA folks in the same position, do you think - just, people with computer jobs who are doing their procrastinating here? Or is it something else, if you had to guess?

Top pp here—yep, that’s me, too! I work in front of a computer screen on very technical/quantitative things and I’m easily distracted. But, I get satisfaction from trying to add new content or at least great new framing via my posts. What makes somebody want to spend all day typing “+1 😃”?

Frankly, I am baffled by their behavior. I get the feeling that they are at home. Either work at home, retired, SAHM, or whatever. I think they see their participation on DCUM as their effort to combat liberals and stand up for motherhood, apple pie, and the American way. I can imagine them envisioning a future in which their grandkids ask them what then did during the war against liberalism and they reply that they and a small band of rebels fought a horde of DCUM liberals to a standstill by constantly standing up for all that was right and true.

Or they're at home, in Mom's basement. Too lazy to get a job. And too lazy to learn enough to make bona fide contributions to threads.

Saw some of it last night in this thread but there are other examples as well:

It's not that people are posting different ideas, it's that the usually give and take of forum messages are a few one way a few the other: this seemed to be more organized 'dog piling'.

Been seeing it more frequently recently in a number of threads

Anyway, not sure how you would manage that. Just thought I'd mention the observation.

I don’t think there are Russians here, but trolling techniques are universal and used by conservative disinformation campaigns too.

Anyway, Putin’s troll farm often would work in groups, where two or more trolls would reply to each other’s posts, and pile on those they disagreed with.

That’s an effective way to derail real discussion.

Right, and liberals *NEVER* do that about Trump. Ever, ever, ever.
Do you have any inkling just how ridiculous you sound?

I have never limited my input to +1. Occasionally I will do one as a kudos, but majority of my contributions are real posts with thoughts and often links supporting my point.

And those posts from MAGA are welcome, though links to infowars or Limbaugh are just as laughable as PacificaRadio so why not try to find some “MSM” that you can tolerate.

It's their job. Come on, guys, you realize people DO get paid to do things like this, right? (If you ever go on a yelp site and the only positive reviews contain "Get 10% off by using this code" then they are also being paid. Just FYI.)

I don't link to infowars, Limbaugh, or OANN (never read the site) - nor do the vast majority of conservatives on this site. However, who are you to say who can link to what sources? Or who can +1 a post? Let's be honest here: you simply hate it when people agree (+1) with posters you want to silence. So you make up silly stories about them "working in pairs" or *gasp* multiple people disagreeing with you. Can't have that! Your absurd complaints just make you look foolish.
