Look folks, this is about the absurdity of having two elite teams. McLean U18/19 and FCV u18/19 are two of the best teams in the country yet instead of traveling Route 7 to play each other they have had to travel to SC or LI to play inferior teams. This will end once DA goes away.

No. Strong players want to compete with and against other strong players. Everything is watered down in both leagues. One is better. Status and rep is not useful. Talent skill motivation and smarts is useful. College coaches don't even want to know the youth league of the player..they want to get them out on the field and watch what they can do.

There's nothing wrong with your argument, but that's not what was being said, unless you are the only one posting here. The fact is that many are promoting the idea of pro/rel with NPL teams not nearly capable of competing with the top players/teams you mention. This does not support your case, but the case that most here are not like you.

Where are those teams finding equals locally? Answer: nowhere. Yours is the absurd argument. The argument you should be making is with your family, to move to PA, NJ, TX, or CA.

The idea of pro/rel is meant to offer a structured openness to the league. And in fact is already being used in some ECNL divisions regarding entrance to larger showcases.

How do you see that? The the gap will be a lot bigger and a lot of “elite” players will be out. This will not increase the opportunity to play elite soccer. It will decrease it....specially on the girls side. Better hope your kid is one of the top 2-3 kids on your ecnl team and no one comes in from another club. The rest of the team players(4-whatever) will most likely be replaced. That’s what happens when you narrow the opportunities. I bet a lot of the parents complaining about water down talent pool will see there kid cut from the elite teams.

Yes, that's true. He was talking about the true mediocre players playing CCL, NPL, etc at u14 and up. Those parents seem to be chomping at the bit for a fantasy pro/rel arrangement with Sr. ECNL. Based on the proposed list, it looks like there are a few GFR and CYA parents involved.

Loudoun and FCV were both squarely in Leesburg. There’s no current ECNL teams in Reston and Springfield currently. Closest are Mclean and BRYC, but those are much further than FCV and Loudoun were at the time. Not to mention ECNLs apparent plans to be the one, true league, as seen by the rapid expansion over the past two years.
