DA soccer terminating boys and girls? “Rumors”

Where did all this come from? Also would be smart to offer Arlington/FCV/Metro to ecnl if true because many parents are worried about travel in the era of Covid. This would allow elite teams to play each other locally and then the most travel would be to showcases. That is a lot more manageable.

Agreed. If the rumor is true, the most likely scenario is for the four DA teams (incl Armor/Pipeline) to join the ENCL teams and make a new southern midAtlantic region. There will be no pro/rel in this arrangement for NPL teams. This solution makes ECNL the most money, reduces travel, and takes care of all the families involved, including travel concerns related to COVID for the next year or two while vaccines are being developed.

Except MD and VA have different HS Soccer schedules.

I love this idea-anything that calms down the travel is good. I think Covid will have families on edge until the vaccine situation is handled. FWIW does anyone even know if this is true? I don’t have the patience to read the millions of pages on this thread. Also hope if this is true because many
Coaches would be out of work. That would be sad.

Nothing prevents Armor from rostering non HS players for the fall season. Ditto VA in the spring.

True but ECN folk don’t get worked up on this as much as DA people. Some DA to ECNL families will
Still not play high school soccer because of injury risk and the belief that you don’t get recruited for
College from high school.

TSJFCV has a foothold in Springfield, so they could make the argument to have ENCL in and around Springfield and move out of Loudoun. Arlington also would likely get ECNL team or McLean is about to get really lucky picking up their DA players.

So, uh, after all the hype...

Has there been any announcement?

Is the St. James going to still be in business if the current environment lingers for months?

Where did this come from? Some parents got confused when they heard DA was deciding about "canceling the season" and blew it all out of proportion on a messageboard, egged on by DA haters, such that soccer writers, without much else to do right now, reported on the rumor to give it some 'credibility'.

Of course not.

When has a major announcement on the multimillion-dollar future of a program been done on a Saturday in the middle of a worldwide crisis?

Should we recap how many clubs have pulled out of the DA prior to the pandemic? Maybe announcement comes after 24 hours when it first became discussed outside of closed doors?

I don’t think they cancel program. I do think they finally loosen up and allow hs soccer.

SoccerWire updated their article last night after hearing from a source,

“A Federation source has told SoccerWire that the current 2019-2020 DA season is “likely” to be canceled soon due to the repercussions of the COVID-19 crisis, though no announcements are imminent over Easter weekend. The DA’s long-term fate? That appears to be up in the air at the moment.”

They will be back. Sheesh why are people getting people all upset. They will come back with more inclusive to hs and they will then be successful.
