Has anyone heard anything about refunds from Calleva?

Has anyone contacted Calleva today to ask about whether they are doing this cancel all registrations system?

*And* keeping our money? That is unacceptable.

It’s really no different than if they had (or have) to cancel outright. At least this way, they can get a sense for who would actually still want to attend.

There is a big difference between cancelling outright because camp can't be run safely and kicking people out and having (potentially different) people register. Especially if there are people who were originally registered who aren't able to register this time. Why should they lose their money?

Is it open to everyone, or just people who had previously registered? Let’s assume 100 people are signed up, but they can only accommodate 50. As long as only the 100 people signed up now are given the option, at least initially, to sign up, I have no issue.

If it is truly open to the public at large with no priority to people who signed up before, then yes, that would be a problem.

I have a problem with this if they only offer a credit for the $150 deposit of the kids who aren’t offered a spot.

Nah, it's dcum. It's more fun to get worked up based on rumors.

Past emails have said their office is closed. I haven’t seen the one from last night to see if it is any different.

Well, news said it wouldn't be until they heard about Phase II.

I am beginning to doubt that They will be able to open.

Latest email said that they would announce status of July camps on June 18.

You can email directly and have a private conversation about cancellations and refunds. I did this last week. They are being highly responsive and flexible.

Agreed they’re being highly responsive and flexible. We love this camp and hope they’ll make it through all of this as the financial loss will be very tough.

They take payment up front and booked almost the entire summer (most camps selling out) in Jan/Feb.

They must be sitting on at least $3 million dollars in cash (based on 10 weeks of camp, 30 camps each week, 15 kids per camp).

Anyone hear anything?

Thank you!

Week 4 just cancelled, they are sending out the announcement about cancelling the remaining weeks next Friday. They have an alternative camp plan under review, but it won't look the same or have the same availability (only ages 8 and older, only Maryland residents in Maryland camps, pickup/dropoff only for VA camps, etc) See partial email below:

The remainder of REGULAR Calleva 2020 summer camp will be cancelled en masse NEXT FRIDAY. At that time, all 2020 registrants will receive a link to finalize their refunds.

We have proposed an alternate set of camp offerings for this summer, called SMALL GROUP ADVENTURES, which is in the queue for review by the Maryland State Department of Health (our licensing authority). As soon as our Summer 2020 SMALL GROUP ADVENTURE (SGA) alternatives are approved and we receive our 2020 license renewal, we will notify you that SGA registration is open. See more information here:
https://calleva.org/summer-camp/small-group-adventures/

If you have any questions about the refund policy, please click here: https://calleva.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/May-21-REFUND-POLICY-UPDATE.pdf Our office phone line will be open from 9am-1pm Monday-Friday. Email continues to be the best way to reach us.

As always, we want you to know how much we appreciate you and your continued trust in Calleva and our team. We are doing our best to serve you with excellence through this very difficult time.

Stay well & keep on adventuring!

I got a check yesterday for the full amount for my kids camp in August.

Stop fanning the flames of disaster.

Just email and request your refund and you'll get it.

What week were you registered for? I’m curious if they’re offering refunds for July.

So, this is weird, but we have not received the above email though we got the others on time. So thank you for posting.

It doesn't matter what week my kids were registered. Contact them directly ourself and if you want a refund you will get one. Jesus I don't understand you people sometimes. So much happier here, wringing your hands than actually contacting a place directly and solving the issue.
