Saw this article in the WaPo and am thinking this may be the last resort option:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/travel/how-to-file-a-credit-card-dispute-for-your-canceled-vacation--and-win/2020/04/08/316e7b7e-7807-11ea-b6ff-597f170df8f8_story.html Thoughts? |
| I did a credit card dispute for the first time ever when Language Stars closed suddenly, and the tuition was returned to me. It is an option if you don’t have any others. |
I did as well. Same information given. |
| If we can cancel by April 30, do we get the full amount back? Because I’m tempted to do that. We signed up for 2 weeks, and I don’t want to be out $1,200 |
| I was told you get full refund minus deposit of $150 per week. |
|
Do you think Calleva will credit towards next year if we don't withdraw but camp doesn't end up happening?
|
At a minimum they need to offer a credit. Otherwise all of us will just dispute the charge with the credit card, which will mean they don’t get the money. And if it comes to that, no way am I going to sign my kid up in the future. I’m sure I’m not the only one. |
+1 |
Are you sure it was per week? I thought it was just 1 $150 deposit. |
|
I suspect if they cancel .... you will get your money.
If you cancel you will lose your deposit. Why would you cancel, if it is open it's open. |
Same with NPS's camp |
|
Calleva sent out an email this week to announce that they are adjusting their cancellation policy to allow folks to cancel until June 1st.
They will keep $150 per week for their administrative costs and issue a refund for the rest. It did not say that the $150 would be credited to next year. Personally, with two kids who are going to calleva for a few weeks, that is a lot of money. $300 x 3= $900 I am thinking about emailing them about this but part of me thinks it’s best to wait it out and see if the state will allow them to even hold a camp. |
|
Yeah, I saw that email too. If they end up having to close for the weeks that we signed up for, and they don't fully refund the money or offer a credit, I will dispute the charge with my credit card company. If they are open, I will send my kids there. If my kids happen to be sick, and they are open, then I of course will expect no refund.
|
| Assume you all got today’s email. If they are forced to cancel, they will refund all but $150/week, which will be credited to next summer. Or you can get a refund of $75/week of the deposit with no credit. |
| I did not get this email about cancellation dates. But my kids are signed up for a week in August. Do you think this may be why? Because June and July are really the only months at the moment that people are considering pulling out of? |
