Which is why ignorant, money/ego-driven leaders at the bully pulpit are so dangerous. As are the networks that amplify their misinformation. |
And, the ageism that has been rampant in this coverage is appalling. I guess "right to life" stops at the vagina. Seriously people. our parents and grandparents are not rotten food to be discarded. |
She’s right, though. For the vast majority of Americans, no one was freaking out about this until the night with the triple whammy of Trump Oval Office speech/ Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson diagnosed/ NBA players tested positive and they canceled the season. |
ALL U.S. originating cruise ships made it back to port. All of them. Every single one. |
Public health professionals were. We have been predicting this for decades, and begging decision makers to prepare.
You can actually get a whole degree called, Emerging Infectious Diseases because they are entirely natural and inevitable. |
Exactly. |
This. |
And all of this social distancing is not going to make Coronavirus (poof!) go away. It's just spreading out how many get infected at one time so that the healthcare systems are not overloaded. Obviously people are still contracting the virus, even with all of these measures in place. |
There is a big difference between “freaking out” and getting on a cruise... |
Huh? Lots and lots of this DCUM community (and many many others) were canceling trips including spring breaks and starting preparations. We knew what was coming because we watched it happen in other countries. |
The fact that there were a ton of cruise ships debarking from the U.S, on March 7th and pretty much none of them had any Coronavirus outbreaks means that those passengers did a better job of assessing risk than the passengers who cancelled did. They missed out on a really beautiful trip. I feel bad for them. |
Jesus. |
Nothing is more profitable than a cruise ship. The cruise line should be responsible for repatriation and the cost of quarantine for every passenger on the ship. Regardless of cost. Very irresponsible to run the cruise in the first place. |
Haha. Is that what you’re telling yourself? |
Zero cruise ships departing from U.S. with zero outbreaks of Coronavirus happening = zero actual risk in hindsight. The risk was fear based. |
